There will always be after market stuff and i bet the first thing they attack is the steering wheel. I don't really like the pictures of the interior. It looks better than a C5 from the outside but the interior is pretty lame. It looks like most people's first mods on the C6 won't be the intake & exhaust anymore it will be the steering wheel.

There's no correlation between peak power rating and EPA mileage. The key is light weight, low aero drag, engine efficiency, and gearing. During the emission certification test where the EPA numbers are derived the engine is only operated at very low throttle and revs. High engine thermal and mechanical efficiency will yield excellent numbers on a light aerodynamic car. This is one area where a big pushrod engine is superior to DOHC since a pushrod engine has relatively low internal friction at low revs. Skip shift is also a big help. The rest is dogged detailed design. Note that the CR has increased to 10.9:1. CR is a big factor in thermal efficiency.

Thanks for the clue man because I could not fathom it. If what you say is in fact the case then there should be a "real world" decrease in fuel mileage.

With the proliferation of massive SUVs on the loose out there I for one am not at all disappointed that the weight did not drop. Don't give up hope though the next Z06 is on the way and the Super Vette remains to be seen.

The Infiniti G35 c/d is .27, and there are other non-econos in that range, including at least one .26. It's a useful concept, but even the ride height affects it. If you drop the ride height of an early C4 by an inch, for example, it decreases the c/d by a full point.

I'd take the drag to get better looks/styling.
I said sports/supercars. It's tougher to get them down in Cd because of their naturally wider, big-hipped bodies. Forget the ride height, even tire width makes a major difference. It is no wonder that only the rear tires increased in width.

Cd is far more than just a useful concept. Some years ago Car and Driver ran a modified Viper vs. a modified Lingenfelter TT. The Vette spotted the Viper ~127hp then proceeded to use its superior aerodynamics to put a crushing 25mph lead on it. One Car and Driver staffer said in all his years he had never seen a car go that fast. If you want increased drag for more dramatic styling there are an awful lot of unsold/lightly used GTS Vipers out there.

On the track Corvette C5R driver Ron Fellows was nearly driven mad when the widebody C5R's consistently lost ground to the narrower, more aerodynamic ProDrive Ferrari 550 Maranellos on the straightaways during this past year's Le Mans competitions. As he said, with development of the C6 nearly completed, wait until you see what we have coming.

Can anyone read the information of the middle of the last page? Primarily I was curious about the dimensions. I can barely see the 0-60 time is "NA" but are there any other numbers they did publish? What about the drivetrain numbers (at what rpm)?

Thanks,

5. The interior is a major step forward. Those who bemoan the "Malibu steering wheel" apparently have not read All Corvettes are Red and/or are not familiar with the intricacies of vehicle design. To keep the Corvette's price down they had to share parts with other cars. To redesign a major specific part like a steering wheel would have significantly increased the price of the car.

If they have a $300 option for an improved steering wheel I'll get that option.
Fair enough, but writ large and taken to include every part someone would like upgraded and is willing to pay for soon you might just be left with a $90K Vette. I'll pay for it, maybe you will too but I have a strong feeling that one woudl be looking at the last year of the Vette. They have to draw the line somewhere and on some things to keep the car price competitive in its segment.

Take heart, a more expensive Z06 is on the way and the rumored Super Vette may be just what you would like and are willing to pay for.

Overall I'm pretty disappointed.
(and believe me it has nothing to do with the fact that I have C5 as I was REALLY looking forward C6)

I really hate the way it looks from the front :U (I kinda expected this after seeing the "boat shop" pictures)
Rear is weird looking also :( The only good shot is the profile.
Why can't they make a hot looking sports car??? What's so hard about it???
Seems like it's a trend these days... Viper SRT looks but ugly, F360 Modena looks worse than F355, now the Vette

I like the interior. Don't mind that steering wheel that much.

Also really disappointed to hear that weight is about the same.
Couple that with basically same suspension design will mean that handling probably will be similar to C5. (Not to say that C5 handles bad...)
Upgraded brakes seems to imply larger size rotors and that's it :( :(

I REALLY, REALLY hope new Z06 will bring some good news...

Expected that, and you missed the point. I'm aware of everything you said, but it's non sequitur-ville. Pointless to go further.

Whoa.

It looks horrible. :skep: They completely ruined it. That steering wheel is the ugliest thing I've ever seen on the inside of a car, and they should have left the grille opening alone. Those belgian waffle-like plastic bits are disgusting. The rest of the car looks like a C5 with some minor changes. Very disappointed here, just as I still am with the styling of the C5.

It had better ride like the wind.

I like it, the headlights & front view is simailair ot the Ferrari 360 Modena & the rear quarter panel profie, especially where they rise up at the end of the door is classic Ferrari 550 Maranello, it also looks similair to my 68 roadster. I like the buttt Much better than that lumpy dumpy C5 which looked like a diaper full of pooop :D
The braces on the front are easy to cut out so stop whining about them
Congratulations GM on a fine improvement of the breed.

When do the pics of the roadster & the Z06 come out ? & PLEASE dont put a stupid vertical rear window on the C6 Z06, its super Fugly. If you must how about some butresses like on the 68 coupe ?

This car is ugly...I was considering this car as my sports car when it came out, but now I am having serious second thoughts. I would much rather have an Acura NSX. :U I am extremely dissapointed with the result of this car.

Mr. Mjolitor 68 I think you are the diaper full of "pooop".

I like it! I see no key hole by the door handles. I read that the key fob will unlock the doors and enable ignition without having to use a key. Total PKE entry. There is supposed to be a start button on the dash that will work when you are in the car with the key fob, same as the new Caddy. The front looks good, and the rear is an improvement over the C5. There is quite a bit of Viper and RX8 likeness however, but not bad at all!
