While it is inevitable that I will be flamed, I just have to say this. When I was evaluating my Lingenfelter package, they answered every question I had and some I did not even think of. I did not have to call Magnuson, Kenne Bell, Bosch, or my congressman. Early adopters just have to take a lot of risk; I did not want any risk.
Larry
and suffice it to say you paid "top shelf" price for that luxury
Well, the caution or lambasting is not relly directed towards A&A, although they should be able to ask the Edelbrock tech rep the questions and have an answer. The problem I have is with Edelbrock representing this unit "specifically designed and integrated" for the 2008-10 C6. If this was correct, why would they not be able to incorporate the Z-51 oil cooler or at least answer the question. You know what, I'm going to call Edelbrock tech rep right now and get back to ya.
UPDATE: A call to Edelbrock tech rep at their corporate office says he'll have to call me back in about half hour. I'll update when he does.
If we can just get Edelbrock to post the install instructions to their website's tech document section we'd be good to go. Ask you buddy at Edelbrock when the instructions will be posted!
WEll, Edelbrock tech rep called back and said indeed the oil cooler will have to be moved because of the S/C intercooler mounting and they are sending a "remount/relocation kit" for the Z-51 oil cooler. Further, that the installers know this because the remount kit is included with the shipments that went out last week. As I figured, silence on the initial questions was a definite yes. Before I forget, he said the (oil cooler remount) instructions will be on the web-site within a week.
I'm still interested, I just want to know where it will be remounted and any performance in the oil cooler will be effected. Kudo's to the original questioneer. Very astute since you noticed they did not mention this issue in the instructions.
I think I am the one who originally posted the question/concern about the oil cooler. In my case it’s not the smaller Z51 oil cooler but rather I’m running the bigger Z06 oil cooler in that location so whatever bracket they are shipping for the Z51 will not work for me. I do know the 2010 Grand Sport with 6-speed manual comes from the factory with the same large Z06 oil cooler I’m using and I have seen info on the Edelbrock website indicating that they are looking for a 2010 Grand Sport to test fit the install so I have to believe they are working on a solution that will work for me. I know Magnacharger uses a thin intercooler that mounts right to the front of the a/c condenser that would work and perhaps that will be the solution Edelbrock adopts for the Grand Sport application….dunno at this point though. I’m not real excited about having to “Engineer” a fix to a new $7k upgrade if there is an Edelbrock solution on the horizon. I’ll probably standby and see what they dream up for the GS.
OK guys...I'm getting off the fence post...putting my money where my mouth is....pulling the trigger or whatever you want to call ordering one. Talked to Steve at A&A tonight and my 1591 order goes in tomorrow a.m.
It definitely wasn't cheap!....I could have bought an A&A centri kit for probably $1,800 less but I didn't want a centrifugal blower setup. I've installed and driven 4 centri equipped cars and they all pull like crazy but I wanted to try something different so I went the roots style blower route. For me it is about having a super clean install that looks nearly OEM and not having to buy an aftermarket hood and deal with trying to get it properly color matched (another $2k) to my Crystal Red Metallic car. And although it may sound strange, I really don't care if it turns out to be a dyno horsepower king or not....just ready to try something new on for size.

Are you installing it or are you taking your car on a CC trip to A&A?

Florida to California and back is a bit too far! I normally do all of my own work. I'll be doing the install in my garage and will do my own calibration work via HP Tuners. The Edelbrock handheld tuner that comes with the kit is for 100% stock cars only and will come up short for my other mods (LG G6XE cam, ported TB and Kooks Headers)

And the extra set of hands to twist wrenches is just across the street.
are there any wheel horsepower results from this kit yet?
what % drivetrain loss is used for the 549/599hp calculations?
Edelbrock is advertising flywheel horsepower numbers for the two kits on a bone stock motor. I think 12% loss is about right for a 6-speed manual. Dunno about A6 cars though.
