I've heard nothing from the Vettes except the oiling of the track.
I'm about to go into a quasi-rant. Ignore it by not reading it. I don't want to take away from what was, for me, a fun day.
As for the oil down, supposedly that was my car. Let's start with this - prior to the supposed oil down, if was 3:50 p.m. (rental ends at 4 pm), cold and the track crew were visibly antsy to leave. That said, we and others asked if we could get in another run to which they said hurry, only one run. Well, everyone heard that and a bunch of cars started lining up.
Tommy from ECS lined up and was taking this last run. He came off the line hard, car went into reduced engine power mode. As a result, car back fired, Tommy got out of it, lugged the car down the track, and brought the car back around to run again. In the meantime, guy at the line said my car spit out all sorts of metal that he swept off to the side. Made me and the rest of the guys suspicious.
Tommy comes back to make another run; the track crew calls the race at 3:59ish because of the "oil down". We tell Tommy that the line guy said the car spit metal - he looks at us like we're nuts. Pop the hood to look around - nothing. We get under the car - nothing (no drips, no nothing). We go to line and ask where the metal is. First, there was no oil or any other fluid on the line. The metal swept to the side looks like its aluminium, is cold cold to the touch (picked it up only shortly after the supposed break) and is bone dry (not even the look or smell of oil, coolant - nothing).
Let the car sit for a bit to see if any slow leaks were happening - NADA.
So that's my story. Drama aside, I really enjoyed hanging with friends and relearning how drive my car. I will say this, the GTR's are amazingly consistent and make the runs look simply easy. Kudos to technology.

We pay 300+ a car, no discount if we bring more cars, so we never do track rentals(once in my life). Our track could care less as well about your prep, unless you are a heavy hitter like LMR in Houston(sorry Steven) and get the track re sprayed for your runs.
With the money in your car Nick, rent "an east coast" track out and dial that beast in.
The negative D/A is great but keeping the car shiny side up is better.
Arun, for benchmark purposes, what's the fastest / quickest you ran your car as a 6 speed? I've got sooo much friggin on-track work to do, but would like to get an idea of how fast / quick vette's in the same power zone have gone 6 speed. Thanks
