May have to call up and get a refund for the races. IW emailed me back. Only thing they can save is the inner hub. They want $384+shipping to "fix" it, then I would then have to mail it to ECS to get cogged. Ugh. No way that will happen in time.

Waiting on ECS to call me. That is the only way I get to race. Only issue is I doubt ECS has any of the "high HP" balancers around. Probably just the same thing I have without the "high hp" mods of extra 3/8" bolts.
Gives me time to mess with the car more. Maybe I'll add the flex fuel and get that going. Also can look at what is next. There should be another 1/2 mile in December.
Thought about racing the mustang, but it is slow, so that would be boring.

Sorry to hear that. I believe that some things happen for a reason.

I think I'd def. put a real flex fuel sensor on it if I was running E85. Everything I see says what actually comes out of the pump isn't consistently E85
Sucks about the race though. I was hoping ECS would come through with a random one they had laying around to save the day

That's the crappy thing. They may have one laying around, but if they did it is probably just a standard 10 rib one, not the upgrade "high hp" one that IW now has. They only add the extra hardware if needed. Seems dumb for any of the 10 rib setups not to be setup for "high hp" because you wouldn't need a 10 rib otherwise. So IW would have to make a "high hp" 10 rib, send it to ECS, and then they machine it.
Only other way is to have it cogged locally. Friend with a CNC lather/mill said he could do it, but I don't know if I trust him to nail it first time. He said it can't be hard. At this point, I'll just wait. I'm just hoping ECS treats me good on the pricing/etc to get another balancer cogged.

Sorry to hear it is not working out for the race Nick.
An issue we are running into with the cog set up, which is why it is temporarily on hold here, is because we have to get the balancers SFI approved for that pesky insurance thing.
With us machining the cog in the balancer it is technically taking it out of SFI approval since they do not have the drawing on file etc.
We are in the process of getting all this done now, but it will unfortunately eliminate the possibility of sending your used balancer in, it will have to be a complete new unit sold.

Trust me we are not happy about this either, but we can't take a risk with our insurance. We are working on this diligently though, I will call as soon as we have an answer, I have nothing more to report at this time. Again sorry, not our choice I assure you!

Just curious since it's the current topic. Does this mean the cogged balancer I received recently is not up to Sfi spec? Is ECS planning to recertify or replace them?
