Yah, after spending the time and cost to do this, would have just been easier to take the 2 minutes to tighten the belt every 6k miles than hack all the stuff up. I guess if starting fresh it is a nice setup, but I like the simplicity of the DP unit a lot more.

This you have to cut up your PS bracket, lines, and radiator hose, and still doesn't fit great compared to the other unit.

Looks good. I guess I didn't notice what a pain it was because I never used any other, and was installing the whole kit. Just make sure you used the right type of hose for that little power steering hose. PS oil eats most hoses quickly.

So.. if you were starting from scratch, what setup or combo of setups would you go with? What balancer? Cogged or no?

I looked through the A&A instructions and they looked pretty rough

Would have been nice if they included some 3/8 PS hose. Used some 3/8 fuel line, so hopefully that works.

10 rib OD with cog mod for sure. I don't care what anyone says, the 4 rib isn't enough if you drive your car and put miles on it. Sure it works at first, or on a dyno. Do a 1/2 mile or mile and see what happens. Or put 5k miles then come back and say it isn't chirping/squealing/etc. I know 3 people with DDs, and all of them have issues after some mileage. Pick your DD. A&A stuff is nice, just a lot more involved to install just to get the auto tensioner which judging by some comments in here, has the same issues as the manual tensioner. Ohh well.

I like the idea of the automatic tensioner if if works out. I'm with you on the cog setup. Now that I have it figured out it's great. Took a 7+ hour drive, had my dyno tune done, then 7+ hours home. No belt issues, and no squealing. Not only does it take the accessories off the little 4 rib ac belt, it also takes the strain off of them from the blower belt tensioner.

careful what fuel line you use cause some of them arent oil resistant and will break down over time. i accidently used fuel line on a auto tranny and it swelled up n popped after not long at all

I agree with this. Fuel line will fail there. I got hose from a hydraulic place. Only thing I found that would hold up for sure.

Just got to pull shifter, and then drop the drive train. Then I can swap the trannys (hoping no weird stuff there). The new tranny is a DSX tranny, complete with a ***** or two drawn on it, since Dave likes that stuff. Since it came out of his 06 Z I assume it will swap in with no weird cooler line/crap.

Then waiting on parts from Fore and dealer. Need to replace the plastic lines in tank, and swapping part of the feed to -10. Feed line is -8 but in case I need -10 later I'm at least swapping from pumps to filter to -10 so if I have to swap it later I don't have to drop the tanks again.

Sounds like a good idea to me (running -10 at least near the tank). That's like eff'ing garden hose size though, haha

I may pull driver side tank this weekend on mine. Need to put a multimeter on the sending unit first but haven't gotten around to it yet. Replacement pump came in, but someone else on here had the exact same problem as me with a Z06 pump in an '05. Probably just a coincidence, but I'm going to compare the original sending unit vs. the one in there now and see if anything weird is going on.

If you were local I would give you a sending unit. I have a stack of them laying around.

Weird thing is I've been running the fuel out the last two days to try to see if anything weird happens once the driver tank gets low. Yesterday evening gauge was basically on E.. today it's at 1/4 tank. I'm up to about 300 miles on this fill up, so it has to be getting close to empty in both tanks.

The gauge slowly went up the whole way into work this morning (50 miles).

Ah well, don't mean to clog up your thread.

Thanks on the sending unit--when I bought the pump I got one with the sending unit included, so the replacement will have another new one as well so that should give me something else to play with. I think I still have the original one in the trash somewhere so I'll try to find it too

So my facebook popped up that 3 years ago today was the first start of my LSX 427. Happy birthday to my motor. 3 years of good running 1000+rwhp fun.

Join me in singing happy birthday to it. There will be cake later. (that is a lie, there is no cake).

That is awesome. I'm glad you actually drive the thing though. I'll likely never do a 1000rwhp setup, but even if I ever did 750-800rwhp with forged bottom end it's nice to know they can be relatively reliable and actually be driven.

How many miles have you put on it?

Indeed. That is the only way it should be IMO (unless it's an all out race car of course)

Stupid lift. Car is stuck on it. Drivers side won't come down. Spent 2 hours working on it, no go. Danmar doesn't open until Monday. Found a few threads, but they didn't help. Not sure what to do. Kind of stuck since I can't get the car down.

Lots of swearing, fluid, hammering, and crap so I got it down on jackstands. Need to figure what the hell happened.
