It moves over, just harder than the other way. Maybe it is just tight or something from sitting for years in the garage with no fluid. Not too worried. It goes over, just takes some umph.
Went to fire it up. Dead battery. So on the charger. Still need to clean up some wiring, put fender liners, and wheels on, but want to get it up to temp and check for leaks. Test fuel system by switching it with a 12v, and all looks good. No leaks. No hobbs switch so for now I'll just run a single pump. Got the wire ran for the switch so just have to touch it to alternator and they kick on.
Since I drained radiator for the direct drive, and all that got to top off all the fluids, and do a once over.
Good news, car started right up. No issues. No leaks.
Bad news, while watching the coolant and topping it off, I noticed the balancer wobbling. Stopped the car, and my 10 rib IW balancer is jacked up. Missing 1/3 of the bolts and many others loose or broken.
No idea. I know it has been back to IW to be rebuilt, and last time it was out was at ECS to get the cog mod done. Not sure if they take it apart to do that or not. All I can think of is whoever took it apart last didn't torque or put it back together correctly. Lots of the bolts are snapped off in 1/2, others are gone, and many were just loose and hanging. Only a few were tight. Inside and outside allens were all coming out.
You can see several missing, and that is after I tightened up a bunch there were about to fall out. Will have to pull it next weekend. Hopefully this doesn't mean me buying a whole brand new one, because that would suck.
Yah, need to get on the phone with ECS and IW. Either need to get a whole new one from ECS on the way to make my race in 4 weeks, or get it off to IW ASAP and see if they can reuse the outter shell and salvage whatever they can from the inside.
Yah. Put fender liners on, cleaned up wiring. Car would be 100% done if it wasn't for this. Still need to top off tranny. Just ran it through 1st-2nd gear on jack stands, let the fluid pump around. The 6060 is just wierd. Really smooth and easy going 1-4, but the spring/etc going over to 5th is much stiff. Ohh well. Shifts fine on jack stands now.
Talked with Chris@ECS. He will get back to me. Since they were the last ones to put hands on it started there. I need to get a working balancer ASAP for the 1/2 mile race. Not sure if this one can be repaired in time, or if I need to get a new one. I guess one thing that sucks about the cog mod is you are tied into one specialty balancer. Not like I can get one anywhere else. I'm sure Doug/Chris/Alex will treat me good either way.
I bought the fittings to just loop the fluid around too but never got around to actually doing it. I wanted to remove the lines that connect to the radiator because they were hitting the supercharger outlet pipe.
Ah well. Maybe later.
Think you'll get it back together tomorrow?
I re routed mine at install. Gave me so much more room to work. Was able to re click the head unit it add even more room. $8 in fittings and hose.

I have seen that on another car too, we sent the balancer back to IW and they repaired it using larger bolts. We got the same balancer back so the cog mod should not be an issue.
I would contact them ASAP if you are short on time so you get it back as quick as possible.
Just an FYI, we do not disassemble the balancers at all to do the cog mod.
Fluid usually leaks from them too when the bolts break, have you seen any red fluid being slung around?

There is signs of fluid around the bolt heads. Good to know. I contacted Chris who was going to get back to me. He was going to work with IW to help me out. I'll get in touch with them. Just didn't want them freaking out blaming you if this is an issue with them. I can't get it off until this weekend anyways. When I talk to them, I'll see if they can get it done in time, or I maybe ordering another cogged one, or have to cancel the race. Sad. Was 3/3 for fastest LS car out there and want to keep my streak going.
