I think that is only part of it. There are combustion issues that Aluminum's Thermal conductivity creates. Old cast iron engines of the past may benifit.
Why worry about things like that when we can stick our heads in the sand and pretend that modern engines are exactly the same as 60s engines?
Elmagoo,
The total cost of my mods were $3500. Parts AND labor.Kooks with X-pipe, Magnaflows, the thermostat, the K and N's and the tuning.I am not a wrench, I had all the labor done for me.
As for the ongoing discussion on the thermostat, in all of my high performance engines including 6 corvettes, a Viper and others I have had low temp thermostats. If I lived where it was cold in Winter I would use a higher temp product. However, in California, where it does tend to be warmer, especially in the summer, the engine oil gets hot enough to prevent build up. I have never had problems. To each his own.

Sweet, that means it's going to be cheaper than I was anticipating . I've met Andreas G. at our Block of Orange meet here, very sweet ride he has. I guess add about another.....what...$700? for tuning with Ron Z. and you're good to go.
Actually, and sorry for yet another question.... :o , so what are the down-sides to the T-stat? Fredo mentioned something about being warm enough to prevent build up? Not sure what that means. Basically what can go wrong if you do X with a T-stat?
Elmagoo,
Go back a page or two and you will find volumns on the subject of thermostats.By the way, if tuners like Lingenfelter use a low temp. thermostat, then its good enough for me.
Just my 2 cents.
Fred
PS I was the guy with Andres G. at the block of Orange on that Sunday morning. Nice to hear from you.

Hey good to know who you are on the forum . You guys going to make it out to the next one coming up later this month? . Hopefully have your ride there tuned up and all, can't wait to see it / hear it .
Very cool info on the T-stat guys, helped me to wrap my head around it as I didn't really have an understanding on what it did exactly.

Thanks again all for the info .
I looked at the events area and did not see any info on the next Sunday morning get-together. Do you have any info on it.
Thanks
I am no expert at all what i have learned from the forum is what i know...but from what i have gathered if you put in the T-stat it may not get the oil hot enough causing buildup in the engine which is really bad. Not a big deal in the "hot" states but may be a bigger issue where cars generally run cooler anyway. But like others have said, good enough for LPE good enough for me.
