Default Front Brake Ducts Question

I had my tires off and was wiping down the wells when I noticed the left and right side brake ducts are different. Is this supposed to be like this or am I missing something here????

the one in the second pic is what it should look like..(smaller hole is correct).
I just watched a show about the design of the C6. The Large holes created too much lift causing instability at high speeds.

looks like you have a "rare cprvette" with a manufacturing error.
The larger opening duct is correct for the Z51 preformance package and the smaller duct is for the non Z51 packakage,
While they did find some additional lift with the larger opening (as I recall at VERY high speed), they still use it on the Z51 cars.
Mine are both like your larger openning on my Z51 C6.
Pat
P.S. If you trim the smaller duct along the radilal line in the pic...you will have a larger duct...same as the other side.

Interesting...

Despite the potential for increased air-flow with the larger duct, I'd think that the cap would direct air more effectively to the rotor than just the open duct. I like the ductwork on the rear brakes though. Directs the stream right onto the rotor. Can't use that on the front though, as it would interfere with the wheels' ability to TURN.

I have the Z-51 package.

Both sides are the large openings.

Nice job on pictures.

Same here and just the way I want it. Need the cooling for the track, even the larger tubes aren't enough.

I saw the show mentioned above, but I don't recall at what speed they had the additional lift. Likely beyond any speed I need to worry about.

I just saw the show, in the test it showed it added lift, but when they did track testing with the "new" smaller tube temps raised from 400 to over 500F and they said norm. temp is 400. They said "brake function was won out over aerodynamic gain"

On another note, they had Vince Wager the squeak & rattle engineer on the show. He should be fired.

What is this elusive show that is referred to?

Do the non-Z51 cars have the ducts too?

I don't do high speed track events with my car so I don't think this is a big deal, in fact for low speed autocross, the smaller hole may be better combined with the drilled rotors. Maybe this "fluke" setup may add value to my car?
