Installing long tube headers and cats this week . Anyone have fix to hard spots and what to look out for . Going on a new Z06 not mine helping a club member on his Thanks
Remove the spark plugs to avoid breaking any. Also, if there are any sensors in harms way, either remove them or temporarily install a header bolt to help protect it from getting whacked.
I installed Kooks headers myself on my C6. Biggest problem was the rear header bolt on the drivers side. The brake boster was in the way. Had to do that one from the bottom. I have a Kwicklift, which made it a lot easier. Took only 4 hours to install. I took off the spark plug wires, but didn't take the plugs out. If you are careful, you won't break any. Make sure you keep the 02 sensor wires away from the H pipe and headers. Good luck.
I forgot to tell you that you should use GM manifold gaskets instead of the gaskets supplied with the headers. The gaskets supplied with the headers have a tendency to leak.
