Default Lug Nut size??

Stupid ?? I know but does anyone know what size the lug nut is on a stock C6 coupe, 1/2 inch or 7/16? Buying some new lug nuts and I wasn't sure. Thanks.

Corvettes are metric

19 mm nuts

and get a 6 sided deep socket 19mm with a 1/4" drive

A 1/2" drive might work better. A 3/4" or 19mm socket both work fine.

Thanks guys. I am trying to find a set of black ones that will work. I have Competition Gray wheels and think the chrome lug nuts look a little bit out of place. Since I have a black car I was thinking black lug nuts would look great on it. Any ideas??

Check with www.mallettcars.com. I bought a set of black chrome lug nuts for my Mallet 396 rims about a year ago for my C5. They're pricey (around $60/set) but they are top quality and look terrific!

Are these the same as the C5 lugnuts? I ask because I have a set of brand new wheel locks I never used on my C5 that I'd like to use on my C6. Especially since the polished wheels may become a "collector item."

I did the same thing for my comp gray wheels .. purchased McGuard black lug nuts from driverfx.com. Total price (with shipping) $52.55

Sorry I don't have a pic with the black lugs ...

Slightly different style but yes they are interchangble between the two cars.

Diffenitly a good torque wrench, not the needle kind. Craftsman. Two major uses are wheels ( 100 ft lbs) and if you start doing brakes. The caliper mounting braket at 125 ft lbs.

Correct. tighten in a star pattern. No need to do the 50, 70, 100 ft lbs sequence.

Just put the nuts on a tighten with a deep socket 19 fairly tight, then crank them down with the sochet, then torque to 100 ft lbs.

I use an impact wrentch and it gets them 75-80 ft lbs, then the sochet wrench to about a 100 then torque to 100.

While we're on the subject of lug nuts , I've been trying to find a source for a 3/4" or 19mm socket which includes a soft insert (nylon? Al?) to protect against scratching/marring of my '04's chrome lug nuts. Any/all suggestions would be most appreciated!

3/4 inch = 19mm (0.7480) well within the manfacturing tolerances of sockets. They are probably forged on the same tooling with the only difference being the markings on the outside of the socket.

1/4 drive for lug nuts
