Enjoy being on top guys (no pun intended).
Well said (especially for an aggie).

Price ?? about $125,000

That is the dumbest "turn key" race car proposition I ever heard.
Buying a 06 ZO6 for road racing is a no brainer.

Who ever came up with the $125k sales price has NO BRAIN.

The Mustang used to be the "bargain" option for performance in the early 1990's.
Now,
only an idiot would buy a Mustang.

Up until 1993,the 5.0 Mustang had OEM forged pistons and cost around $5-$10k in the used market when only a few years old.
If you were willing to spend another $6k-$10k,
you would be faster than anything on the road.

Since then,
F*rd has lost their mind!

$42k for a SOLID REAR AXEL 2007 Cobra that barely keeps up with the base C6 in a straight line and gets DOGGED in the twisties?

You gotta be kidding me!!!

Ford lost all of my respect when they dropped the forged pistons in the Fox bodies and again when they dropped the independent rear in the Cobra.

For around $30k with an INDEPENDENT rear and ALUMINUM block,
the Cobra would have made sense.

But,
for what you get for $42k,
only a brain washed Ford loyalist would buy a Mustang.

If you are on a budget,
the 98 Camaro, 04 GTO, or C5 are much better alternatives to the Mustang.
For $42k,
you are CRAZY not to buy a C6.

Mind you, I don't give a sh*t either, as I'd gladly spend $60k on my convertible Vette rather than $35k on a mustang with $25k on mods. Even if I lose the race, I'll be psyched to take my Vette home.

OK depends on the type of race

So, I suppose a person who buys a Mustang and puts a Magnacharger on it would be a SUPER idiot in your opinion, right?

You sure do type exactly like our troll pal C6 TT, 427 C6, and boosted C6.

BTW, I own a Mustang, but don't consider myself any kind of brand loyalist. So, your statements are IGNORANT.

Maybe we should be talking about ways to keep that from happening? Who wants to order a Procharger?

I love how they always have to find a way that a vette can win. The guy asked if the mustang had him covered, sounds like he should. Then that very thought is just a travesty on this forum so there has to be a way that a vette can win right??

Last time I raced I told the guy that beat me that he didn't really win because I'm prettier than he is.

Fox bodies have been whipping vette *** around the globe for years I think it's time some people come out of their bubble....but I'm sure someone will find a reason that the vette really isn't losing.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

How about this, since you're so superior, and you're only 5 hours away from me, I'll bring a friend's mustang to you, completely streetable, heads up drag race, you show me the superiority of your vette. How about a grand for every hour I have to drive to get to you?? Street or strip lets get it done. (We'll need at least half the pot bitch money)

Better yet pinks is in town down here at MIR in the near future and my friends are always looking for new cars. Come show me how superior your vette is....come get your *** cracked.

these kind of threads get stupid...

My vette can beat your mustang....well my friends civic can beat your mustang and corvette ...etc etc.

Seriously once you steer away from NON stock vehicles...then the argumnet is a "mines bigger than yours" which is

ANY car CAN outrun another with the right amount of work.

If you are comparing a stock car vs another stock car out of the price range....then why even are you comparing?

Exactly, the question WASN'T stock for stock, someones vagina just got hurt that maybe someone elses car could beat their vette that was touched by the hand of god.

Don't you all read Car and Driver? They just did a article on a new mustang shelby gt500 and a stock C6.The mustang has 500 hp and 480lb of torque. And we all know the C6 has 400 hp and 400 lb of torque. But the mustang still could not handle the C6.0 to 60 in the mustang is 4.5 and the c6 is 4.3. The only thing the mustang has on the C6 is 50 to 70 in top gear.C6 in 9.1 and the mustang in 8.8.They are close in price but I would still rather have the c6.

I thought it was all based on science...

Drive train ratios/powertrain + hp/trq + weight + braking bias + understeer/oversteer = the faster of the two being compared

I have had people in cars way slower than mine beat me .....I just cant drive worth a crap

This is the first vette Ive owned. Its nice. Will I own another, probably not...is that wrong, I dont think so.

Some people I think take an oath when they buy a corvette... I wave when I see one and drive the hell out of mine (when I can). For the money its a great car! There will be others that will trumph the vette for years to come, and some that will fall below. Just dont let your loyality to your sworn oath to the Corvette Gods sway the truth from the fact; its JUST A CAR.

I paid 39.9K for my c6 brand new. The mustang GT goes for about 32K new. My guess is that if I drove a 1/4 in my c6 and a 1/4 in the mustang, the c6 would be quicker. The question is whether or not the c6 is worth an extra 8K. For me it is. As far as the 45K Cobra model goes, stock for stock same driver the c6 probably still wins. So is it worth 5K more? That is up to the consumer.
