Really! VERY interesting! I never woulda thunk it.
That is a very neat little setup you've got there. Having previously paid big $$$ for a fancy anodized aluminum catch can, your setup looks much more practical.

Oil catch cans are used on most forced induction motors since they have higher cylinder pressures and more blow by. Can't hurt on a high compression LS2. I had a catch can on my SRT4 and had to empty the filter every week (20 pounds boost causes a lot of blowby).
Lots of options; $80 to $150 aftermarket and DIY for around $20 using an air compressor filter like a Campbell Hausfeld. Try a search on "oil catch cans".

I made one for my FI C6. It has a Bosch vaccum pump, attached to a modded(shortened) catch can and a air dryer in case any vapors get by.
First I plugged up the throttle body inlet.Then I took that hose (from the intake valley) and I connected it to the Right side valve cover tube.I made a connector that screws in the Oil fill hole to suck out fumes. The oulet of the pump is attached to my air cleaner so it has constant vaccum pulling all the filtered crankcase fumes. At about 1 psi of boost, the motor kicks on to help suck out the rest and create a vaccum in the crankcase.Vaccum in the crankcase makes for a more efficient running engine
If you want to use a similar setup in a NA car,you just get a MSD or any RPM switch instead of a boost switch. Then adjust it to kick on at any RPM's you desire or let it run all the time if you want.
It Works great. No oily Throttle body or any smoke when I get on it,it has very clean exhaust. heres a couple of pics.I also have them posted on another thread.
