CBRf4i,

You are right, I probably could... Except that I am completely **** when it comes to modificcations. Every part has its place and all. Somehow I feel better knowing that the piece installed is performing its intended function.

BTW, I have a 2004 Aprilia Mille R with Vin #0000132. Wish I could get it out more. Too many toys, not enough time...

Be safe.

dinger, the part that you have is the exact same part that is on your car already, you are just paying someone (in this case the manufacture) to cut 2 holes there and put in 2 little screens. when you take your stock one out you will see it is the exactly same part #.

that is a nice bike, i have the opposite problem with i wish i could get more out of my riding skill level...

Sent the pics to LS1LT1. Concerning water: that is a concern. Not for me, as I don't drive in the rain, and that is a rare commodity here on the eastern plains/front range in COS. Easy enough to put back the shroud to closed, but I guess I wouldn't want to do it in a thunderstorm! The opening is 3" at and between the props, and tapers off gradually to the sides. Over 2 1/2 feet of the scoop is very active. And the shroud lip does in fact become a scoop as effectively as anything I saw back in the day. Concerning airflow to the radiator: I don't see that as a problem, as I said. There is plenty thru the grill that will still get to the condensor--which is in front of the radiator, below the lip of the shroud. And the airdams direct flow up to the condensor. I don't see that flow being disturbed, and it is significant, per design, hence the rubber air dams. Having driven bottom breather F-bodies for many years, I have a good feel for how the air routes via air dams under the nose of the car. However, just as I won't take the screen out of the MAF, I respect the opinion of people who want to leave it as designed. It gets hot here, but I have great airflow as I don't drive in traffic, and the fans do a great job if they need to come on. To each his own. IMO, this is a better solution than getting air from the back of the shroud with a K&N Aircharger, as the huge swept area of the eliptical filter is completely in the cold air flow. Under way, the air to it will be ambient temp. The air on the backside of the shroud will be warmer, perhaps 10 degrees, as the radiator/condensor will transfer heat to the cooler area between the condensor and shroud. Heat, like pressure, flows warm to cool, high to low. The Vararam merely limits the amount of air to its filter, much less frontal area than this mod, and certainly no more of a 'ram' effect. Velocity is velocity. Going into the small opening on the Vararam is no higher velocity than the much larger open area from the shroud's lip. At any rate, I like the mod and let's see it cost me zip. It should be worth 10-15 hp given 1 degree cooler air at the intake is 1 rwhp.

Yeah I still didn't get them but that could be an issue on my end as well, my computer's been acting real funky lately, running out of memory or something.
Hopefully you'll have better luck with cbrf4i1.

Lots of racing video + **** + old/cheaper computer = slowness and limited disk space

You might set up a free photobucket.com account - it's really simple to use these days, much better than before. You set it up then just browse your hard drive for pics to upload, then when they are there, photobucket gives you a link to click on, then paste to a thread. I was like you, didn't want to bother or learn, but it's really simple once you set it up and very handy.

Looking forward to the pics!

This sounds great. Anyone have ideas on what is the best thing to do to avoid a problem with rain and puddles? The Vaaram snake charmer looks great to me but I installed a Halltech not that long ago and really don't want to buy the charmer and let the other air intake sit.

Yes I have a fool proof method, only drive the car on dry days.

I don't think rain will be much of an issue but of course real deep puddles can be a problem for even an unmodified car so one must always use caution when traversing the landscape in conditions such as that.

Good to know you don't think rain is a big deal. I can certainly avoid roads where there has been some flooding.

Let me run one by you guys. It may be crazy but....CBRf4i mentioned cuting holes in the grill on either side about 3" x 5". What would you think about cutting and installing an inside air vent here. That way you would have the louvers that could easily be opened or closed in bad weather? may be hard to get to and install.

only way water getting up there through those 2 holes would be to submerge the front end of your car into a 1.5 foot deep hole.

Ok, I'm about sold. Did you put any type of venting on the inside of the engine compartment or just cut the two holes? How would you recommend cutting the holes? Is the piece easily removable or did you cut it in place?

that piece isn't that easly to remove, lots of patience helps. i had suggested to others to use a drill bit and cut it that way (without taking it out) or just drill a few 1/2 " holes there. here is a picture if you need to see it.

no venting required, it is vent out under the car, just like the air that cools the radiator.

Ok, I did it with the sink drain pieces from Home Depot.I had tp put the white ***** (1/2" dia. or so)toward the front of the car and used fender washers towards the rear against the shroud. It gives a 3" clear opening. This looks clean and can't be seen unless you get down and look. I currently have the stock filter system, anyone see that as a problem? What about trimming the upper (second) lip, it looks like it may interfere with the airflow a bit. This setup looks like it will really work, and whoever thought of it ,and the sink drain spacer, should be given some type of award
I'm gonna try to post some pix. Well I can't figure it out
Thanks

one thing you might want to watch out for is, the potential for the engine bay to collect more debris. when the shroud is opened it will permit more and more road sand, dirt, and debris to find it's way into the engine compartment.
