Just checked mine and its 243 and its an 2006 that was built in May of 2006. I had my car dynoed with Kooks 1 3/4 headers,cats,160 t-stat,Rt.66,and a tune ,and i had 356.7 hp and 352.4 ftlbs. My car is an A6 auto tho. Good luck to you
WOW, this is NUTS . I can`t beleive that they would make this kind of error on this kind of car,i mean, i know people make mistakes but COME-ON , this is there flagship car,not a colbalt.

There is no way this was some mistake by GM... no way! They will simply say they reserve the right to change any part at any time! You aren't going to find where specfic head configuration is called for so my guess folks with 799's are simply out of luck..... Maybe it was a part supply problem or GM wanted to use up over stock of the 799 heads. My guess is you won't get GM to even comment on this situation.....

Here's GM's problem. They advertise the LS2 with LS6 cylinder heads, my vette does not have LS6 cylinder heads so I've been shortchanged, the motor is down on power. I didn't buy a 390hp motor, I was buying a 400hp motor. This is unacceptable. If I wanted to get screwed out of hp, I'd buy an RX-8.
What we need now is a bone stock "799" to dyno back to back with a "423" and see the difference, or compare the two woth the same mods..., but a back to back on the same dyno would be optimal....

Yep. My 05 GTO had 243's and put down 336rwhp on my local dyno stock. My 07 vette did 341rwhp on the same dyno. So power wise it's about the same stock in my situation. Which GM could point to and say I'm at 400hp so I'm good.
What sucks is if modding gets you less returns because these 799 heads don't flow as well. So far we have one car that as dyno'd low for it's mods, we'll have to see what other cars have 799 heads and what numbers they are putting down.

Very interesting, earlier this week I dyno tuned a C6 with Kooks, and a Corsa cat back. I was expecting to see something in the neighborhood of high 360s to low 370s on my Mustang dyno. I have got as much as 375 with a header only C6 on many occasions but not on this particular car. This was an 05 C6 M6 car and no matter what I did I could not get there. Maybe this head issue could be a problem, I will certainly have my customer check his casting numbers.
