Default I Need Traction Baaaaad !!!!!!!!

Well Boys

......I finally think I found a solution to my High HP traction woes thanks to a tip from a member.
Now I can go to the Drag strip (or stop light) and floor the accelerator from a dead stop with my 1000+ rwhp car and not worry about going up in smoke.
....It will give me the best possible acceleration/time with the tires/traction I have available. So if I put sticky tires on ,I will still keep the car on the edge of traction/power. Even in wet or icey conditions.

...... I just purchased this Racelogic Traction Control System. I'm looking forward to start installation. It has good reviews from all the Viper people and a Stop Tech Z06 track car... A lot of the top racers are using them in rallies ,hillclimbs, autocross. LG has one in his race car also.

......What it does is it monitors your wheel sensors 1000/sec and adjusts for maximum traction by systematically cutting injector pulse width to decrease power which avoids detonation. you can dial in how much if any you want to break the tires loose. LG uses it on his race car. You can go around a corner or curve and floor the accelerator and keep the car in it's line without sliding out. Or you can adjust it for the perfect drift around a corner by making it a little looser with a turn of a ****.
The digital unit is infintely adjustable so with the silver dial you see,I can adjust how much wheel spin I want on the fly.

It is not a plug and play system by no means so it's not for the everyday DYS'er. It cost me $1700.00 for the digital system. Prices start at $3400.00 installed. Plus you have to pay for their air fare to come and install it.

Once I install mine and get it dialed in I will do a personal review with videos. I was considering being a Mid west installer / tuner at my shop.
I know a lot of people who could use one of these.

IMO,it pays for itself with the little peace of mind when your foot gets heavy during a race or spirited driving by knowing you're not going to slide out and hit a wall or a tree. It makes your car funner to drive.
I think it would be much easier on your drivetrane also, especially a 6 spd.

Heres some pics with it on my table ready to go...
I'll keep all you guys posted.
Perry

it sounds great. let us know if it works. but don't count on it i thought that's what the tc was for. i tried that before with a progressive nitrous controller it slowed me down a half second even when i put it to instant 100 percent it still slowed a 1/2 second. but if it works greatand i wouldn't listen to anything the viper community says

Our traction control systems are nothing near what this is.
It comes from the factory on Lotus and Aston Martin .
I would be willing to bet the new Corvette SS will have a similar system to keep it in check.

I think this one will work.

Be a good ideal to keep all your posts on the subject in one thread for continuity sake.

How are you planning to accommodate the risk associated with being your own installer/integrator?

What do companies do to accommodate the risk associated with being their own installer/integrator of turbos or S/C etc ?

Is there any more of a risk involved wiring in a traction control device by a ASE certified tech with many years of elecrical experience ?
Especially if he installs one on his own car and learns the system so he can fine tune it all while showing his results for everybody else to see .

Good luck. From talking with them the install is not to bad but I think there is a day or so to dial it in. They did say it would work with our cars .Keep me posted as I woulld like to have one installed. At 700 plus hp/tq our traction control will dose not work even with a light left foot. but track time is the key to good et.

Let us know how it turns out, lots of people have attempted Race Logic kits for a fix over the years but they never seem to pan out.. Hopefully things have changed and you have great results to report back. Good luck and keep us updated

I think its kindof ironic that the front of the manual features: A car totally losing traction. Haha

This is a quote from a member on another forum on this product.
I hope it works this well for me after I spend some time calibrating.

"I saw some of these last weekend on Viper race cars. It seemed to work well. I have film of a Comp Coupe gunning it out of a medium-low speed corner and he just wiggled a little bit and took off."

Very very interesting. I didn't know such devices existed (aftermarket). Man, that's like my dream come true, a computer aid that corrects my crappy driving (not saying your driving is crappy)!

I'm very curious to hear the results.

Default Update

Guys
........I'm going through the whole book on installing the traction control system as I write this post. I will start installation as soon a s they send me some needed resistors for my ABS sensor integration. I gather it should take me a few hours to wire in the complete system including mounting the in car controller. I pulled all the schematics that I need to do all the wiring yesterday from the GM service manual on line.

.....Calibration with my Onboard PC will be the more time consuming process. From what I am gathering so far, I need to first determine while test driving, the default degree of traction control the computer will use on my injectors at 5 different stages of traction loss, eg. from slight slip to excessive slip. Then it will use those parameters to cut injectors accordingly to maintain traction and fine tune it to my cars power level
.....There are so many features with this digital controller that I can write 3 more paragraphs.

Once I have the installation and more important the programming down and perfected on my car ,I will do installations and tuning on other peoples high HP cars that are in need of traction .

......The launch control feature seems cool. Hit a button from a dead stop and it activates. You have a desired launch rev limit set on the controller and a set amount wheel slip, if any, you desire. You then just mash the pedal to the floor. It keeps your engine at your programmed launch RPM eg 4000rpm. You then slip the clutch out and hold on. Once programmed properly ( big key) ,I should be able to go through all the gears with my gas pedal to the floor with the maximum possible acceleration my tires can provide under any circumstance including accelerating during cornering.

.....If it works like it says in the book, I will be thrilled and ready to stand my ground against the high HP Killer Vipers and Turbo Supras that we see roaming the streets from time to time with their nose up in the air looking to get a Vette kill.

Stay tuned for more Updates and installation pics.

i don't want to start the tm debate again but this sounds like a definition of a torque management controller.

let us know how well it works out, good luck.

It basically is, but it's made for racing and the traction adjustability is just about infinite compared to our OEM units

...Right now with my OEM traction control/torque management on the car, it powers right through wheel spin ,it does nothing. I disabled the electronic throttle cut off part of the traction control with my HPTuners because when it did loose traction, the factory computers only way to stop wheel spin was to cut my throttle out which felt like you just slammed the brakes under hard acceleration. It cannot retard timing enough to stop it, so it uses the throttle cut off as last resort.
The Racelogic TC system is much different than the OEM one.
The OEM system is purely for saftey not performance..

I'm no where near 1,000 hp and I can (seemingly) over-power my factory TC with ease.

how will this affect the factory TC system? will the TC/AH button still work? will AH still work the same as from factory?
