I just spend 1/2 hour reading this and it doesn't sound like the juice is worth squeeze, unless you have late 2007. The lines won't match up on 2005, 06 and early 07, plus the software issue.

I show that the only line that would be different is the base suspension on the 05. All of the other suspensions will work. The part number is the same, as well as the pump. That was mis-information.

Gosh, I wish someone would pull the trigger already!

Default Tuners in Houston?

I would do it except for the fact I don't have the time to do it myself. If there are any tuners in the Houston area that would chip in labor or give me a break on the install cost - and willing to swap it back if it doesn't work, I will go for it.

BTW, I have an 05 MN6 Z51, I am reading here that the lines are compatible.

Also, I thought she said that a firm intermediate shaft was the upgrade that made the difference?

The intermediate shaft does not offer any compliance. The compliance comes from the torsion bar in the R&P steering gear. The torsion bar is firmer on the 08 gear.

So could you just change the torsion bar?

No, It's inside of the gear and not serviceable.

Had my Rack & Pinion along with Power Steering pump replaced this past week due to a problem with the Magnateering (I have a 2007).

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1802141

I asked the service department to use the 08 parts. However when I picked up the vehicle, I did not have time to follow up on what year components or software changes where made.

I will say is sure feels good. If an unexperienced driver had driven my car before the repair, they would never had known a problem existed, i.e. the Magnasteer. I always thought my loss was very subtle, however the change/fix now seems to be extreme to what I had before and I will say is sure feels good. Since this was my first Vette, maybe it wasn't completely working from the beginning. I knew enough that I had an issue with the system and this forum help with my understanding. Thx to all you.

Note: Informed by the cashier, the charge to GM was $1497.97 (under warranty).

Unfortunately the car was returned with cracked rocker panels.

I'd still take care of the shipping if anyone wants to buy the part!

I would like to know too. Also noticed that this thread is in the C6 tech section - it should probably be in the C5 tech section where it might find more interest/potential modifiers

Not yet. I have a customer who says he may want to give it a try in a couple of weeks so maybe I'll have more information for you.

I didn't read the complete thread but since some of the updates were supposedly magnasteer related I think somebody would have to determine if the new rack would work with an older EBCM. The magnasteer current comes from the EBCM and if they changed things in the rack the 08 and newer EBCMs may have related changes.
