Default Using Water Wetter?

I am trying to bring down my water temperature and was told by some people that adding Water Wetter to my radiator would help with the temperature.

Just wondering if anyone here have done it. Does it help and how much water wetter to anti-freeze to water should I add?

I have a base C6 A6. Thanks

I believe that water wetter works best with plain old water, not antifreeze. I dont know how much benefit you'll get mixing it with coolant already in the radiator.

I did more search and it seems that most people think it is just a waste of time and money.

A waste of money unless you alter the water/anti-freeze mix, with a greater percentage of water. Don't worry about the temps; I used to, but decided to "cool out" myself.....

Put in a 160 degree thermostat to replace your stock 185 stat. That will bring down your water temp FAR more than water bed wetter. Do a search here on 160 stat and see how mnay others are so pleased with this cheap and working mod. I did and quite pleased with the results.

Ror $5 if can't hurt. Water wetter is designed to eliminate the bubbles in the water, thus providing more useable surface area against the radiator for better cooling. I have a bottle left over from my road racing days and was planning on putting it in this weekend when I add my 160 stat.

I did the Water Wetter thing with my '01 coupe and didn't notice any difference. Just bought an '08 coupe and notice that the water temp is 203-205 while driving down the highway. My C5 was 193-196 at highway speed. I guess C6 is within spec. Please let me know if I should be concerned. Oh, I also noticed the oil pressure is 39 PSI at highway speed. The C5 was 40-42 PSI. Still, love the new baby!

I have used it in both my vettes with success. Key is getting coolant out and adding water wetter/water only. Yes there is coolant in the car but not alot. Dropping water wetter in the res will do nothing as you are not removing the coolant from the system.

In one car I went with straight water wetter+water and saw awesome results. I added WW after the fact in my C6 so I just drained alittle bit then did 2 bottles of WW.

Water wetter is for race cars so if they puke on the track it cleans up well with oil dry or kitty liter. It dosen't leave the oily film on the track..scca requires you run it. This product really will not cool any better than Dex-cool Green or long life Orange. Water wetter also does not have the anti oxidation additives that Dex-cool contains. 195 to 220 is normal op range. By the way you should change you should change your coolant every 5 years for long life orange and 2 yrs. for green .

Water Wetter doesn't really work with antifreeze in the mix, and it's not really it's intended purpose. Most people who see no results are running their normal mix of anti-freeze/water. It will cool better than dex-cool or long-life orange because anti-freeze is not very efficient at cooling as it is. Water is much better for cooling than anti-freeze, and water watter simply adds the lubrication needed for water to be truly efficient. Anti-freeze is exactly that, anti-freeze. The less you can run while providing protection against freezing the better, and water wetter makes up for the properties that help the efficiency of the water and protecting your cooling system that will be missing without the anti-freeze, while allowing for more water vs anti-freeze for better cooling properties and easier cleanup if there is a spill at the track.

The transition to calling it coolant rather than anti-freeze is somewhat a misnomer.

I used it with success in my 04' 408 gto. I wouldn't call it a cure all but I'm switching to a 160tstat and putting in water wetter at the same time.

Need to get your temps down?

First clean your radiator with a high pressure air hose, or garden hose. More dirt and sand gets clogged in the radiator and you can not see it. This blocks air flow and coolant failure.

Second, YES Water wetter works. Use two bottles.

I use about 10% dex, 90% water and two bottles of water wetter

Leaked coolant on the track is nasty...often hard to see and slick as oil. I'd only use Water Wetter on the race track and then reluctantly. If you're really running too hot, find out why and fix the problem. IMO don't go to Water Wetter to solve a problem.

Do you know to what temperature this mixture would provide freeze protection?

It is a waste of money in a regular coolant mix. If you must be "cool", get a lower thermostat, etc.
