George. You arte still looking for traction. If you ever find it with all that low end power and tq. the Maggie makes let me know. You know if you go to the 122 it's going to get even harder.

Your right Gene!!!
I'm just thinking of some "stickey" tires when I go to the track!
I would love to see how My Vette feels without "losing" traction and just "grabb'n and going "when I punch it from standstill!!!

i would go with the bfg drs 295x35x18 i drive on them as my permanent tires the traction is great. the heat from normal driving and 25 lbs of air hot equals good traction and remember i have 373s and 3800 converter and traction is great it should work fine for you the mickeys are not dot approved for highway use
Mickey Thompson ET Streets, Bias Ply and Radials, are DOT approved.
I wouldn't drive the bias plys in the rain. Their siping is just 2 thin cuts in the tread. I do drive the radials in the rain (almost every time I go to the track it seems) but I'm getting a new set now that mine are down to the wear bars since I drive to/from track with them. On the highway...at highway speeds.
Hey 1BDASVT...just a suggestion before getting the sticky tires and heading to the track with that kinda HP, ya may wanna look into a diff. brace or have a roll back on call. Don't know if you're thinking DRs or full out slicks, but man, I've seen some exploded diffs from these C6s over the last year, some pushing less HP than you or I.

I would like to call You by Your name,...but I'll just call You "Big Evil"!
Your right Bro,but I did just recently change to a h/d Unitrax Diff. with 300m output shafts, micro polished,Quaife set-up,and all the bells and whistels!!
I just would love to have the feel of not loosing traction a wot off the line,..but I'll definetly listen to Your advice, since You've been to the track, and I've yet to go!

your right Joe they advertise dot approved and their is even a set of papers running around jersey from mickey thompson. but the cops impound and write up here they say once they wear 2/32 they are not dot that's one burnout

I "just" finished the 300 mile break-in,and last week I did step on it and it seemed to get alot better traction without break'n the tires loose!
I've got to play with it a little to really get a feel for it!
People swear by it!

Wow no kidding. Around here cops try to keep from getting shot by gang members so they don't bother with tires or car crimes generally.
They are DOT approved but it doesn't mean safe for rain driving. Matter of fact one of our Corvette Challenge members spun out on the highway and hit the wall coming home from a Challenge (standing water does it every time) on your BFG drag radials. He made lemonade - put on a widebody kit when he replaced the fender!

i had the bfgs on my 50 with skinnies could drive it in ran and snow no problems got 21000-22000 miles on each set.but on the c6 slides all over in the rain over 50 mph when worn but onlt lasted 6-8 thousand miles. here the cops act like your shooting at them when you say hi
I'm running the Nitto R in 305 35 18 rear. Very happy with them. They may not be the ultimate drag tire, but they handle my 375+ rwhp and 4.10s (barely) and they are a great all around street tire as well. In fact, I ran canyons with them for about 2 months before realizing they were the drag radials, not the road race tire (the "R-II"). Anyone who has gone with me knows I corner the car about as hard as it will go.

I ran the same Nittos in a 285/18 on my E55 as my street tires. They hooked up great and wore very well. I got 11,000 miles out of them in daily street use - ride and handling were superb.
Wow that's great mileage. I rarely get more than 4-5K out of my street tires, but at least all 4 are evenly worn. Despite their softer tread, the Nitto Rs have lasted about as long as my GY F1 SCs under similar use. Frankly, I have been running Nitto Rs on the street the last 4 years, first on my Z06 and now on the C6 Coupe. I keep a set of stock wheels with sensors and the F1 SC EMTs for use on long road trips, but I avoid using them for canyon carving because they wear quick and are expensive.
Man I'm sounding like a broken record but I have another buddy who spun and bit a tire wall at Homestead speedway on his 555RII's following me on a wet track (I was on my runflats). The tread on his 555's had gotten pretty thin - when that happens it is hydroplane city. No control. Down here in FL there's no way I could daily drive on DR's or 555RII's. It rains too much. I actually drove hom on my ET Street bias plys once in the pouring rain - so long as I went 35 or less it was ok. Man people were mad at me on the highway! A trail of 4Vettes with our hazards on.
Just be careful out there if you decide to run these daily. Speed and standing water are not your friends.
