You're absolutely right, the car is a lot harder to launch with the big cam. I have to come out at 4500-4800 and walk the clutch perfectly. if I try to launch higher the tires will spin (had a couple of those launches) or below 4500 it'll bog - either way it's a 1.9 60 when I do that. I had 3 runs 1.719, 1.684 and 1.696 all resulting in 7.5's and 11.6's. My buddy has a 402 in a C5z and 480 ft lbs of torque, he can launch at 3000 and get 1.4's and 10 second slips.

I'm hoping the new Weiand intake gives me more low end torque - if it doesn't pan out I'll get a FAST. The low end torque kick from the FAST will help a lot in the 60ft.

Man the race is really at the first 60 ft isn't it.

Very true, it's a whole new ballgame after going cam or heads/cam.
And what an awesome sound that cam makes too. (I heard the video).

Thanks! The sound alone is worth the price. I do love it.

Well, took the 07 to the track today

Wow, never thought the re-learning curve would be so steep. Havent driven a stick down the track since about a year ago.

1st pass- Clutch stuck to the floor....19.0 1/4 mile time..aborted

2nd pass- changed out the clutch fluid, ran 12.740 @113.30, not bad, but disapointed.

3rd pass- 12.603 @114.03, still not where I would like to be

4th pass (best one of the day)
60' 1.897
330 5.220
1/8 7.965
MPH 90.11
1000 10.316
1/4 12.303
MPH 113.36

Not quite what i was expecting, but I got tired of waiting over an hour between each pass, decided to go home. Im sure with a little more seat time in this car, ill get down to my 12.04 mark i set in my 06.

Mods are as follows: Tuning by Texas Speed and Performance and Drag Radials. Otherwise the car is bone stock. The car weighed 3475 with me in it (Car has Z06 Wide body kit, brakes, wheels and tires...heavier.

Car is an 07 3LT, M6. NON-Z51
Conditions were 47 Degrees, 50% humidity, At HRP in Baytown, Tx. (about 6 ft above sea level), which equates out to approximately Negative 1300 DA.

Overall, not too bad...Tommy, please add me again to the bolt on list.

Thanks
Daren

Daren - for such minor mods, that is still a damn good time. I know you'll knock it down even further. Congrats

Had a couple of 11.6 runs tonight. If we get some cooler weather I hope I can best these numbers. At 11.6 I'm not doing very well compared to others who are cam only.
Great Pass Joe !

Those Z06 wheels, brakes and body panels do add some real weight to the car and outside of the few ponies that a tune might add you have no real power adding mods done...DRs do help so I think the car could have a 12.0 in it for sure.

That is fantastic time on stock tires. No way I could do that. You need drag radials.

What are you launching at? If you can walk the clutch at 4500 on drag radials and get some 1.6's as I was doing the other night, you'd have your 11 second slip. Based on the splits you know how to shift.

Just for fun I compared our runs. You can get the shift points from the splits (60-330 is 1-2, 330-660 is 2-3, 1000-1320 is 3-4.

60 ft. I was .20 seconds faster, 1/4 was .68 faster, I gained 4.4 MPH in 1/8 to 1/14 trap delta, that's the big cam effect. I gained 27 mph, you gained 23. I beat you by two tenths at the 60 which translated to 6.8 tenths by the 1/4. That's the horsepower.

But you can sure shift that car (if I'm any barometer). I was faster than you by the following amounts:
1-2 shift .11
3-4 shift .12
1-2 shift .11

Since I've got 50 peak RWHP over you, you're a faster shifter than me!
That's just a very long winded way for me to say, I'm sure if you got some drag radials and came out at 4500, got a 1.65 60 ft. like I'm doing, you'd have an 11.9 slip in your hands.

Hey Joe, I guess you missed the part where the only mods were Drag Radials and a Tune. !! I was launching at 4500, but my clutch was acting up a bit, so It wasnt completely holding at the launch. My other car went 1.72 on the same tires, So I know I can get in the 12.1's. and Gonna put the same mufflers i had on the other car, then prolly will run the same.

Thanks for the kind words on the shifting. Im not positive, but im very close to powershifting...barely lifting.

I did miss that! I thought you had heavy 345 tires on it.

I was languishing with 1.8 60 fts for months with clutch troubles, spin or bog....guess what...I bought new DR's (mine were only a year old and had tread left) and boom - 1.7's and 1.6's. No other changes. DR's get old even though they look fine. You might buy a new set before the weather warms up!

Oh and I posted yesterday a dyno sheet of my car through the mufflers vs. cutouts open when I was bolt on only...no difference at all bypassing the mufflers. None. So don't expect any gain from changing out your mufflers, factory muffs flow very well. Now that I've got the cam I get 6 rwhp/tq from cutouts open but zero with bolt ons only.

Wow no kidding! I just sold my 14336 weld ins when I went cam only - they droned too bad for me without the cam and I was sure they'd be worse with the cam so I went to cutouts.

I would have to say that they aren't, they can be calibrated in and provide at least some accuracy but most will agree that ya really have to get out there on an official 1/4 or 1/8th mile track and see what she'll do.

Sorry for such a late reply but I was here the night you were running the 08 with my 07 and my best previous had been a 12.1 but this night I was only able to run 12.3. I really want to buy a nice dr set up and what you had looked IDEAL. I have been trying to find a setup all winter with no luck. I would like a light wheel and a MT ET street tire which is what you had, can you give the exact info on your wheel and tire setup?

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.

Tommy can you update my time for External mods

Name: 1222timeslip.jpg
Views: 85
Size: 19.5 KB

Run was at HRP.
Temp was 50 Degrees

Mods as follows
MTI excelerator cold air
Magnaflow weld in 14336 mufflers
160 Thermo
Re-Tuned for mods
BFG Drag Radials

As you can see, it would have been much better, but I bounced the rev limiter in 3rd, which is why my MPH is so low. I will get better!

I guess my other car wasnt a freak after all! Must be the driver mod!
