Thanks.

I had less than a 1/4 tank when I ran the 11.014 and knew what was needed to pick up that extra bit of time but wasnt able to fix it at the track.

The car was shifting into 4th at around 6400-6500 RPM but when I tried altering just that one shift point, it ended up affecting both my 1-2 and 2-3 shift. It's a problem that I've repeatedly asked the guys at HP Tuners for an answer but still haven't got one yet. Regardless of that however it's still fun to be running that fast.

You have no idea how nice it was being able to run without the anxiety from before. Everytime I saw someone from the track who might be wondering about the car I ended up shouting out "I've got a cage now!" like I was a school kid.

Here's everything I've done to the car thus far:
  • Vararam CAI
  • American Racing longtube headers
  • Comp Cams camshaft
  • 3.42 gears
  • Yank SS3600 stall converter
  • NGK AFX Wideband O2 Sensor
  • Borla Stinger catback

I had it dyno'd a few weeks back and it's making 410/376 to the rear wheels.

i went to the lsx shootout this weekend at the nmca world finals in memphis. first time ive ever run the car . shownroom stock 08 z51 auto 3lt car . the drive by wire throttle is a little different to say the least. you can tell by the reaction times on a 500 pro tree.. since i really dont know how to post a pic on here i'll list the incrementals below
r/t .364
60' 2.014
330' 5.498
1/8 8.279
mph 88.72
1000' 10.652
1/4 12.631
mph 114.20
had a great time at the race and got down to the 1/8's and got in the money. [my entry fee back} lots of 10 second street cars in the shootout' ps the paddle shifters blow just put it in s and let it eat. all runs were made with 28 psi in the run flats and ac blowin cold.I talked to the guy that won pinks all out in the red c5 he was a really cool kid. he and I got eliminated the same round.

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.

Good job Christopher.

He actually needs .015 (or at least .0141) to get there though.
It's coming.

Christopher, in reference to Joes comment, can you add more timing to your launch in those cells that may not be getting full timing? Maybe you already have. Did you log your launch/pass?

You are running great even if you didn't get that 10 second pass!

I'm pretty sure I've got the car dialed in with respect to timing and fueling based on my timeslips and logs from the track.

Yes, I've got pretty much all of my logs so I'm going to go over them to see if there might still be any areas for improvement. I think the thing I need to focus on is getting the car to shift into 4th when it's supposed to instead of at around 6500RPM like it was doing on Saturday. I guess if push comes to shove, I could always switch to Sport mode in order to keep it in gear for those extra few hundred RPMs.

At your level as you know even little things make a big difference to get you over the small hump...go super low on gas, run a couple of gallons of race fuel and give yourself a few degrees of timing, empty out your car (some take out their passenger seat), clean or take out your air filter, etc.

Can you get out there on Wednesday? We're pulling for you...

and pulling for you too Tony, it's a race to see who can get the 2nd 10 in our group with factory heads!

I'm already running less than a 1/4 tank now and if I go any lower than that I generally experience fuel starvation because the car launches so hard. I used to race with pure 100 octane but after finding that it actually slowed me down a bit, I usually just add enough to the 91 octane to end up with an effective 93.5 mix.

I may however remove the passenger seat this Wednesday since the carpet isn't in there anyway. My plan was to leave the carpet out until everybody from each track tech's it at least once so taking it out might be enough to get me over the hump.

Thanks for the suggestions and I'll let you know if I make it on Wednesday!

That passenger seat will do it. Every 10 pounds is about a hundredth. The seat probably weighs 35 pounds. That would get you .035 approx.

Check you log again and see if you can add more timing at launch. I ran a 1.44 60' with 122 mph trap speed. You should be able to get a 1.50 anyway. If you were running ET Streets or slicks you would be there too. I assume you have DRs?

Yeah, I'm running 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson Street ET drag radials. I am able to launch with either more timing or higher than the 2100 RPM I was at on Saturday but because of the torque converter, the track prep or a combination of both my 60ft times actually went down as I got wheelspin off the line.

I'm hoping that since Infineon is a much better prepped track I'll be able to hit my goal on Wednesday night even if I don't get the 3-4 shift issue worked out.

If you are losing traction at all that's et loss. That could easily be your .15.

I suggested ET Streets because not only are they lighter but they will usually hold better than DRs. Don't think you will need Streets with the seat out assuming air quality is the same. Might try leaving from an idle if you can hold traction. Depending on the converter it can hit harder from an idle. Except those with a transbrake.

Personally, I got .2 consistently from going to the short DR's from the much taller et streets...the taller et streets (over an inch taller despite what the website says) took away my gearing advantage. I was more consistent with the et streets, but consistenly 1.8's. The et streets are indeed light though...though they wear out quickly.
