Speaking of Mustangs my 88 cost in the $12K range, can't remember exact. When I crashed it in 2002 racing a 422 MTI built TranAm it had ran from a mid 14 second 1/4 mile to a 10.30 @ 126.62 mph. Built and installed a 347 with a C4 tranny.

 

I'd be willing to bet that at least 1 out of 4 people that drag race their Corvettes also had a 5.0 Mustang (or two!), it just seems that the natural progression of all drag racers in the last few decades has been to start out with a Fox body Mustang and eventually we all ended up here with Corvettes. I had two different 87 Mustang GTs, the second of which I had running as quick as 12.16 at 112mph, it was a completely stock 5.0 engine with a Paxton supercharger on it (car was also lightened a lot and I was running 3.55 gears and slicks) As much as I love my Corvette, I still miss that 5.0! IMO no car on the planet sounds as cool as a 5.0 Mustang with Flowmasters on it! (although the sound of an LT1 Corvette or f-body also sounds very cool with the right exhaust on it too!)

 

I'm a die hard ford man, i love beating chevys with my stangs. i had every year from 65-79 no mustang 2s then went to a 92 5.0LX street car 9.70@141fully loaded my wife is a chevy lover i bought the vette for her, she couldn't handle it with cold tires, said i could have it, i didn't want it but couldn't take the loss, so i kept it, and now I'm glad i did i really liked the chevys, but it was more fun beating them with the underdog ford

I made one of the switches that I swore I never would even though I come from a Corvette family. I was one of the guys who had a 3rd gen FD RX-7, I used to rag the guys who switched so hard, then I went to a GTO when I got tired of the rotary and when I wanted to go back to the 7 I did the logical thing and bought a C6 (which was partially because they had an LS3 and my GTO only had an LS2 ) and I have never loved a car so much. Not to mention I get to eat at the big table again with my step-dad who has a '59, '61 and '81. Might of even got back into the will.

On topic:

12.1 @ 119mph is my best to date with vararam and run flats, A6 with the long gears. Its also the only 1.9 60' I have pulled to date with the run flats.

Submitting my slips showing new bests for my bolt ons only C6 LS2 A6.
After having Cartek Racing do an awesome job installing my new headers, torque converter, trans cooler and Cartek ported throttle body, the car was carefully/methodically dyno tuned by Julio and I took it to the track last night resulting in a few 11.3 second passes, the best being an 11.31@121.mph (hit a best of 122mph on the very first pass) on a 1.60 sixty foot.

Much thanks to Cartek Racing for their awesome workmanship and tuning skills/vast racing knowledge.
And also to Dennis50nj for helping pave the way for future fast bolt on LS2 cars as well as Mike (Braciole) for helping me out of a jam I was in with a flat tire while in the staging lanes (thanks Mike ).

Nah you should go forward with those plans, I (nor likely anyone else LOL) won't be coming close to your bolt on numbers any time soon. Going 10s is never easy though I don't think that a 10.99 NA with stock internals is entirely out of the question for my car with a few more goodies.
