This was a hot topic when the car came out, but no one seems to talk about it now. Certainly, there should have been enough "real world" times by now to know how it measures up.
I've been waiting almost a year to see some GS times...

In my opinion, the GS track numbers will be no different than any other 2008-2010 Corvette LS3's 1/4 mile track times, if anything they might even be slightly slower on average.
I would just look at the LS3 lists to get a random sampling of what they're probably running.
Road course track times might be better for the GS's of course.

Some people think the GS will be a little quicker in the quarter, some think it will be a little slower, some think the advantages & disadvantages will cancel each other.
I'm hoping to get a bunch of real numbers, not just my opinion or anyone else's.

So far it's pretty easy to pick out the GS cars on the list. There are none.
In every catagory of LS3 cars, the '08's dominate. There are a spattering of '09s, but not a single '10. Some of this is due to the numbers sold, but the bigger part is the tendency to not race a brand new car.
When the numbers for '10s start showing up, I'd guess there will be more base models than GS models. GS buyers would have gravitated toward the look or road course performance, while the 1/4 mile guys don't share that interest as much.
RUMOR HAS IT, SOMEBODY WAS WITH THE RPM BOYS OVER THE WEEKEND, MAKING PASSES AT MUNCIE, AND WILL SOON,VERY VERY SOON, BE GOING AFTER THE FASTEST 6L80E RECORDS....
CAN SOMEONE SAY MID TO LOW 6 1/8TH MILE TIMES?
MAYBE EVEN ALREADY HAS IT, JUST WAITING TO GO A LITTLE FASTER BEFORE ANYTHING IS SAID.....
MAYBE....

Could be, though I believe craftfox was referring to a '6L80 car' not a 4L60 conversion like that C6 Z06 has.
Oh good point.
I didn't think those 6 speeds handle that kind of power....I think Christopher has replaced a few....has RPM come up with some mods that make them more reliable???

Don't know if they do but Century Transmission in TX might pretty soon:
RPMS trans will hold lots of power. I have over 100 passes on the car, plus alot of street miles, with the current trans and it worked perfect until I beat it to death on dyno. and the only thing that is acting up is 4rth, so it is getting fixed as we speak.
I will only go as far as saying the car has went into the mid 6s, in the 8th. There is no special trick one trans place does another cant. they all can get the same 456 shaft, they all can get the same clutches, now you can even put a Powerglide clutch settup in the 456 if you can get someone to get you the right shaft cut. the life of the trans is mainly limited by the tuner.
but I will go out on the limb and say RPM is alot more than a tranny shop, and that place is full of guys that are 100% worth every dime they make.
I'm new to drag racing, but here's my best effort so far.
I was car #13 on the left.
My car is an '08 LS3, A&A Si-trim supercharger, 3.42 gears, meth kit, stock stall converter. This was my 2nd visit ever to the 1/4 mile track, so I hope to improve and get into the 10 second club.
I would appreciate if you could add my latest personal best to your list. I was at the December 7, 2009 MIR rental by Ranger and ran a 12.290 @ 114.29mph. The pass was witnessed by Ranger. I have added the numbers as the ticket is not clear on some of the interim times and speed. I have included my time slip from the track also. The temperature was in the mid 40’s. My 2007 C6, 6 speed manual, non Z51 is just as it came from the dealer new, including the tires. It has not been tuned or modified in any way. I am currently on the list as: proney 07 M6 12.38 @ 115.86. Thanks to Ranger for the constant coaching to finally get the launch correct.
I have a 2010 GS A6 with the Edelbrock supercharger, Dynatech headers, and a tune. My best 1/4 in Kansas City was on July 9th @ KCIR with DA @ 2,357.
60' 1.840
330' 5.002
1/8 7.576
1/8 95.74 MPH
1000' 9.769
1/4 11.612 @ 122.010
I am think of going to a 3.15 differential becuase I will pick up 15% more acceleration (Gs) through 4th gear. If I went to the 3.42 I calculate 25% more Gs; however, I think I would have to shift into 5th gear to get through the quarter. I have ran the 1/4 at 124.74 with an ET of 11.643. Do you have any thoughts regarding 3.42 vs 3.15, and my 5th gear calculation on 2010 A6?
