Well I'm heading out tomorrow to HOPEFULLY get closer to being the next 10 second bolton LS2.

I'm 70 pounds lighter and a ported FAST 90 more powerful than the last time I ran 11.5.

Time to see how close I am to 10's now. I've got a nice UD pulley sitting on my counter going in this week to make up any slack and will go back to stock brakes instead of Z51s up front for my next trip out after tomorrow.

DA won't be AMAZING, but it should be around 0

Need to join the big boy ETs before it starts getting warm again down here.

Good luck! The FAST is a great mod. You'll get results from it.

What did you do to lose 70 lbs?

Hey, I consider even 11.5s to be big boy ETs, the NHRA says it's just thousandths away from when a roll bar and harness are needed (it used to be a half a second into roll bar territory ) so it's fast no doubt.
You could now be well into the 11.2s (11.1s?) depending on the conditions.

OK boys and girls. Get out the calculators and peruse these slips and data. You also might want to page Glass Slipper for technical assistance if it gets too confusing.

The first two are in 174' DA as obtained by a weather station 2 miles from the track and the accuracy is nearly identical when compared to a trackside trailer mounted unit. (not handheld) The info on Dragtimes comes from Luke AFB 18 miles away on the other side of a mountain, 400 feet lower elevation, and surrounded by residential.

The next two are in 536' DA from same as above.

The remaining 11 slips are all the passes at Sacramento with the exception of a run I aborted very early and the final pass where the lady in the timeslip booth had turned off the printer as she thought the track had closed. The DA ranged from -838' to -742' reported by Dragtimes from Mather AFB about 1 mile from the track.

The final pic is a certified weight taken about 15 miles after the low fuel warning light came on. That light also came on just as I finished the burnout on my last pass at Sac. The weight is with my street tires/wheels which weigh 84 pounds more than the drag tires/wheels. Several days before going to Sac, I also removed the rear carpet to start the rollbar fitting process, but did not re-install, which weighs 15 pounds. So as not to overload you with data, the race weight at Sac on the last pass was approximately 2925 pounds plus my 175 body.

If you have trouble reading any numbers or you have additional questions not answered in previous posts or on the other thread, I'll answer when I have time.

My perspective was from the driver's seat, so I know exactly what happened on each run. However, for those of you who are thousands of miles away, let the armchair speculating begin.

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules. In order to be placed on the list I need a complete timeslip & completed template in your post per the example.

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order. The bold numbers refer to the post number utilized to report the elapsed times in this thread.

Ok guys you can debate Tom's 125.823 MPH as well as the 1/8 mile MPH. Here are a couple of items to consider:

Lower gears use horsepower so that quicker ET will cost you MPH.

The LS3 times should be faster than LS2 times as more tables are discovered and the torque management is reduced.

LS3 dyno around 390 or so stock

3020 pounds is rather light .....I imagine Tom is dangerous with a saws all

Considering what myself and Marc have run in our LS2 bolt on cars Toms times are plausible.

Jeff you are getting there BTW the air pressure trick is a old trick.... there are many others.... tell those guy to fess up

Tom great run the good news is you are on the top of the LS3 list the bad news is you are now in the hot seat. Dennis times while questioned over & over are now verified as another LS3 Bolt on has gone in the 10s

Larry I see a ten second time slip in your future too

Mike you need to take a trip up the east coast and you should be well within reach of Tom...... looking like a great horse race in 2011

The way the weather pattern is going we will have snow till April

Tom, 2925 is LIGHT. That's 240 lbs lighter than my car.

Great runs. Your car is a rocket.

Tommy, I didn't quite make the 10.82 you indicated above but I did get the top spot on mph with my 125.83. Would you please move me up one knotch. Ran an 11.224 @ 125.83 mph. Amazing what some cooler air will do!

1. Your entire profile completed
2. A copy of your entire time slip posted to the thread as in post #4854
3. The complete the details of your pass using this template in your post:
4. Year Corvette - 2008
5. Type of Trans - automatic, stock converter
6. Type of Suspension - stock
7. Stock Performance options - Z51, 2.73 gear, NPP exhaust
8. Tires utilized - 275-40-17 MT drag radials
9. Modifications if any -Headers, CAI, UDP, tune, Sunset Orange w/butter flies open, no cats, approx. 1/4 tank
10. Dyno numbers if you have them
11. As much info you may want to add about the run, launch techniques, tire air pressure & etc - Mickey Thompson drag radial 275-40-17, 29 psi in rear and 35 in front. Race weight around 3300. Brake stalled to just over 1000 rpm. Front anti-sway bar removed, 21 pound battery, front seats stock and still in, factory gumbys up front(no skinnkies).
12. Typed in the post (as some time slips get deleted & etc after being posted)
___ Name of the Track - Royal Purple Raceway
___ Date of the pass & weather conditions - January 21, 2011 (DA=-1094, see below)
___ 60'............. - 1.804
___ 330'........... - 4.849
___ 660'........... - 7.315
___ 660’ mph....- 100.75
___ 1000'......... - 9.436
___ 1320'......... - 11.224
___ 1320’ mph…- 125.83

The time on the slips again is 1 hour fast. The 8:09 was 7:09. My last and best pass followed around 7:30. That middle pass at 112.60 mph I hit the brakes right as it tried to shift to 4th gear hopeing not to run past an 11.49. Got fussed the first pass for that 11.317. 3-4 shift was not good on the first pass. I hot lapped the car for my final pass and the 3-4 was fast like it's suppose to shift. Need more tranny tuning or either these A6s have a built in problem. Incidentally, I do have an HPT file of my best pass if anyone would like to see.

Don't know why this DA screen shot is so small. If anybody knows how to make it bigger please advise. I can on my computer but not on the site.

Swaybar/brackets, passenger seat and miscellaneous crap in the car. I was going to pull the mufflers, but it was pretty cold last night and I was tired of wrenching on the car.

I have an odyssey battery that I THINK weighs 15 pounds to put in...just need to get some posts for it.

I'm shooting for 100lbs lighter my next trip out.

Get that converter on and you're the next 10 second Bolton car

You should start racing at lonestar so you can actually make more than two passes :P

Great runs. Your car is a rocket.
He must have removed alot of weight when he replaced his LS3 with another LS3 from a SS.

Either way, glad we all had this discussion.

Congrats HOXXOX on the top spot.

Guess Sac is the fastest track, faster than atco(thats for you, Christopher).

That's a fantastic run with a stock converter. Nice to see another bolt-on crack 100 MPH in the 1/8th.
Loose the Z51 rotors, add skinnies and the converter to get into 10's even in lesser air, because you're making strong HP. If that's a 3600 Yank, you should be able to top my time. A 3200 will still get 10's.

That's the ticket. Weight is the most overlooked aspect, yet fairly easy to change the first couple hundred pounds.

Thanks! I've thought about getting a set of base rotors if my Z51 calipers would work. Don't think they will both front and rear. Any idea how much weight that would take off? I have an SS3200 Yank coming. Want to keep it as street friendly as I can. That's what Dave at Yank recommended.

These drag radials are almost to much work changing out for every track day. Adding skinnies is even more on an old guy! LOL! Yes with those mods 10s would be almost be a sure thing. But wait, I get fussed at now every pass for running better than an 11.49. I think I could have squeezed a tad more out last night with another pass and a little more tweaking of my tune but I promised the track officials not to run anymore.

Mike you need to take a trip up the east coast and you should be well within reach of Tom...... looking like a great horse race in 2011
Thanks Tommy. It was even a surprise to me to get that far into the 10's. I don't mind being the target, as it pushes and encourages others to beat it. Myself included, if I can handle another trip to the coast for good air.

It took Dennis and Mark 3-4 years to get the LS2's in the 10's and now about the same for the LS3's to shine. I'm hoping to see several more soon, as we can learn from each other.

Mike (Theofel), please don't change the cam just yet. Plan a trip to MIR to knock me down a spot first.

Run at LMP and run to your hearts content

It's the same distance from Sugar Land as Royal Purple Raceway is.

The calipers are identical front and rear, but the brackets are different. You'll save 15 lbs. (10 front - 5 rear) on the rotors and another ~ 50 lbs. on the skinnies depending on what your present ones weigh. Another advantage is the weight transfer is better for the launch.

Don't even go there about the age thing. I'm 69 and Theofel is nearly the same. The racing is what keeps us old farts going.

Actually closer to me. I'm in Greatwood. I've just had problems with traction in the past when I had my Camaro. Maybe they have learned how to prep a track now.

Good to know about the calipers. Would have thought they were different.
