C6 1/4 Mile Performance Challenge

The track was opened/operated by a friend just for these particular passes (this of course conveniently leaves no witnesses to neither prove nor deny that these passes even took place), some of the beams were conveniently disabled yet the sixty foot, 1/4 mile and trap speed beams were working fine and the car hit a trap speed so high (for the conditions) that it dictates this 2.56 geared automatic car will likely hit 118 or 119mph in stock trim in strong negative DA air (is that even physically possible?). Another LS3 A6 (Larry) runs at 'lower altitude' Houston Raceway Park (one of the quickest tracks in the nation, albeit it was a few degrees warmer) WITH 2.73 gears and he runs a more realistic 12.56@112.98 on a better sixty foot (1.96).
Now, is this sour grapes? Am I trying to refute Atomic-Punk's track times?
Actually I'm not, I do believe the passes took place and I do believe the numbers were run, just pointing out how a true skeptic
might view all of these facts.
Good point and I agree.
Now about that...we still haven't seen a time slip.

I have not seen where "Larry" ran at HRP. I live 20 minutes from HRP. If he just ran there, let me assure you the conditions were horrible. It doesn't even cool down at night here, and we are in a heat wave (even by Houston standards). It's likely that even at 10:00 at night the temperature would have been 90 degrees, and humidity 50% or above.
As always, you make good points, though.

But I do believe that the LS3 Vettes, particularly the automatics are going to claim the top three spots on that list, probably before year's end.
With people running in Jersey and Houston this fall, it would not surprise me to see that happen quickly.
Also, don't forget that a pro or two, (Evan Smith, GMHTP) is liable to get their hands on one of them too. While these are not "forum members" I do believe that they might be eligible for inclusion in that list since the C5 Z06 list includes the results from GMHTP.
In the hands of one of those two, Smith or GMHTP, in the fall, 11s are just about a given.
As always, you make good points, though.

I agree that if Evan Smith or even Corvette Fever magazine runs a record worthy time in one of these cars that it should be included on one of our lists as well. It helps those looking at the list understand what the cars are capable of and what it might take to make it happen in their own car.

The numbers are what they are and we ALL know they will only get quicker/faster as the air turns cooler and the miles pile on in the next 6 months.
Had this been 40-50 degree temps they would be at or very close to the top, 30-40 degree temps and
Truly impressive.

I love drag racing. The only reason I haven't been to the track is that I have the tendency to break stuff. And, right now it's just too hot for me in South Florida to be standing in line for periods of time. But, I am eager to see what my car would run through the 1/4. Not too concerned about my ET. The trap speed would indicate the car's power and what it's capable of doing as far as ET. In conclusion, I am not expecting fantastic numbers like 12.4 and 12.5 on the first time out, regardless of my present mod; headers, CAI, ported intake/tb and tune. Just something to say. Thanks

Well SAID !!!!
an LS3 will not see 11s in stock trim. we have had3 years of LS2s couldnt do it and only a small percent even close. and that was still 2/10s off it takes a lot more to go 2/10s at that time than it does at 13.s

Corvette Fever must mail from somewhere in FL; their HQ is vic Tampa. You're a few days early in receiving the October issue, due on news stands around Aug 23.
The editors approached me late last year with the idea of writing about driving techniques, an under-reported topic in the automotive press. I was happy to help, as I try to do here.

Of course, in my case, I just moved down a notch - but I'm okay with that because my LS3 will be going to the track in a few months to try to regain some of my prior standings. Shame on me if I can't do it

I guess I'll add the LS3s to the list until an entire page is full. Then I'll ask our members for suggestions. But it looks as if the LS3s will take the top spots of stock list.

Hey Marc,
It is not so bad as more power does not always transulate to quicker times
In my racing days (when all my parts actually worked well together) there was many a time when I had the car with less horsepower and won.
So it ain't over till its over or at least until Jim gets to the track
or maybe I have to turn St. Anthony upside down so that it is unseasonably hot in Texas this fall
So let the fun and games begin, Good Luck to all
