Which Headers Are Better?
IM HEARING PROS AND CONS ON BOTH HEADERS AND BEFORE I BUY I WANT TO BUY THE BEST BET, SO TO SPEAK.
I HAD MELROSE ON MY 2005 C6 WITH HI FLO CATS AND X-=PIPE AND THE DYNO AND IT RAN GREAT AND I HAD NO COMPLAINTS AND ONLY RECENTLY I HEARD ONLY ONE COMPLAINT WITH MELROSE HEADERS-IT WAS WITH A PERSON WHO HAD THEM INSTALLED ON HIS LS3 AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY MADE NOISE AND OR RATTLED AND HE FINALLY REMOVED THEM AND HAD LG HEADERS INSTALLED AND HAS NO COMPLAINTS. HE SAYS THEY'RE LONGER AND MAKE MORE HP???
IS THIS TRUE? APPRECIATE ANY INPUT ON THIS...(sorry, i just realized i had the caps on...
)Thanks
good greif here we go,again, yes use the search, but it pretty well shownit's 6 one way and a half dozen the other.

Does it mean there really is no difference and it depends on the engine, the tune, the driver, etc. etc.???? This thread was to generate conversation for me (and anyone else who doesn't know either) by getting answers with educated opinions and facts from those who know explaining what and why, not cliche's like the above which has little educational value at all content wise to someone like myself who doesn't know these "simple" matters in life like you-all that hang in this section. My expertise is in Showing C6's and i can show with the best of them! But when it comes to gear-head knowledge, im limited so I come in here and ask and that's what I'm trying to do, not get an cliche answer which doesn't help me one bit in educating myself in answering the above question.
So the question still stands:
Do LG Headers MAKE A DIFFERENCE over the Melrose Headers on a C6 with a Dyno Tune or not on an otherwise stock Corvette?
I still would appreciate an educated answer on this so i can make an educated decision on which set of headers to purchase and get it the best way the first time ...

I also opted to have my LGM headers coated. Most people simply do not want to spend the extra money to do this and there is even debate on whether coating helps. I believe coating does help...this is from Jett Hot about the benefits of coating headers:
Heat: The coating promotes denser, more potent fuel/air charges by insulating the engine bay from exhaust heat.
Also, it accelerates the pulsed-vacuum effect on “tuned” headers, resulting in more effective scavenging of cylinders. The increased velocity of exhaust gases produced by higher exit inertia not only clears each cylinder more quickly; it also draws in the next fuel/air charge more efficiently.

Needless to say, I am very pleased with my LGM headers.
Good luck with your search for knowledge on this particular subject.
You are going to find any opinions supported by facts and a great deal of emotion.
BTW, You may want to turn off your caps lock. To many you appear to be shouting (just a suggestion for Forum etiquette)
I think I have read every post on the subject before buying my headers a few months back.
Rock'n Blue 08 was just trying to help you.
I don't know him at all but if you take a look at his Forum contributions you will see he has some experience with the information you are looking for.
His cliche' is right on the money.
Wayne O also has a great deal of experience researching this topic.
They are both found information that made them comfortable with thier decisions.
You have to ask your self a couple of questions:
Do you have a budget or surplus of money?
Are you planning on racing your C6?
Are you planning to "show" your C6?
I bought Kooks from Maryland Speed because they were the best value for what I wanted to do and they look and fit GREAT!!!
Do LG's produce more HP/torque????
Good luck trying to answer that question.
The conclusion I came to was, if they do it was not enought to make a $500 difference.(including shipping and coating)
If you plan on showing your car make sure you have the LGs coated!
I know the debate will never end and we all accept that. So I won't comment on this debate.
But what I will do is to make aware, who are considering LG headers and don't want to spend the money, that we now have our LG Street Series headers in the C6 version.
The Street series became so popular in the C5 market and match the hp very closely on cars that are not highly modified.
The Street Series leaves out the Costly Merge Collectors, replaceing them with industry standard 4 in to 1 collectors. And they use a 2 1/2" X pipe and rear pipes to bring the costs down.
But even with the cost reductions, we use the exact LG Pro Primary tube design and orientation.
For a limited time with our Introductory sale, the LG Street Series Headers for the C6 cost only $1095 without cats, or $1295 with cats.
We are aware that some C6 owners are not in search of the Last 5 hp and they are not going to modify their cars to the max. Our Street Series tries to address that.
Again, we stongly recommend the LG Pro LT Headers for those looking to upgrade the mods because they will work all the way up to the limit of your engine.
Thanks guys.

Here is a photo of them: $1095 with no cats--$1295 with cats.

Don't let me stop the debate. You were going good till I got in.
I promise to stay out of it.
Really. I am as worn out on this subject as you guys. So have at it.
If you have any questions on the Street Series, just PM me or my sales guys.
Thanks.

I think LG, Kooks and AR are all top notch!
