My reason for not using Shell has nothing to do with how good or bad the product is. I look deaper into the company-thats where Shell gets below grade scores for me. "Over stated reserves" does that ring a bell as one example.

Shell 93 V-Power or Sunoco Ultra 94

Over stated reserves helped keep gas prices down......

Din't know usa super gas had ethanol. I know here in Quebec that there's no ethanol in super, only 10 % in regular gas . There are 2 refineries in Montreal and I see us tankers taking it across the border so guess what kind of gas exxon and shell and all the others have across the border ? I agree only additives changes.

south american/bush hater Hugo Chavez is the president of Venezuela and Venezuela does own CITGO.....but ARABS and terrorists own the others...maybe with the exception of BP...also, most oil companies are owned by more than one person/group/nationality and it is sometimes very hard to find out who really owns the companies.

Citgo's profit does go back to Venezuela but others go back to Saudi Arabia/Iraq/Iran however, all of the refineries are on U.S. soil and have AMERICAN workers. I should know....I am one.

Besides, the gasoline you buy at an Exxon or Shell etc may have been made at CITGO or Chevron etc refineries---as long as the gas meets spec it will be sold under other brand names with thier additive packages (techron, v power, etc) THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE GASOLINE YOU BUY AT A CERTAIN BRAND OF STATION WAS INFACT REFINED AT THAT BRANDS REFINERIES.

So, I let you draw 100,000 gallons of gasoline from my storage tank in PA for your PA gas stations, and you let me draw 100,000 gallons of gasoline from your Virginia holding tanks for my Virginia gas stations. That way, we both save on shipping. Yup, Texaco gasoline may have come from a Shell refinery and vice-versa. At a gasoline terminal you may see trucks from many different companies all loading at the SAME terminal (that for example may be supplied exclusively by Shell).

So although there may be some slight differences in certain brands, in reality on any given day you don't really know what type (brand) of fuel you are purchasing.

Too many people have Brand Loyalty out there and the oil companies love you for it. Some folks can't bear to be without their favorite gasoline.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires that ALL octane grades of ALL brands of gasoline contain engine cleaning detergent additives to protect against the build-up of harmful levels of engine deposits during the expected life of your car.

Gas is gas....I personally like anythng cheap....

Ha, that's rich. Chavez doesn't just hate Bush, he hates YOU too! You (and Joe Kennedy) might want to investigate the subject past the word "free" to see what it's actually costing you. Yeah, Chavez is doing such a bang up job caring for his own people that he should be "concerned" for our poor. That's a riot.

Back on topic, I use any major brand except Citco (I'd rather walk) or Sunoco (because I'd have to replace yet another fuel sensor). Chevron would be my 1st choice but we don't have any here.

93 in one brand may be the same 93 in another brand, but, is there a hands down favorite?

Why aren't any of you Citgo/Chavez haters willing to acknoledge the fact that you WILL NOT make any difference AT ALL by not buying "CITGO" gas? Even if there weren't any (independently operated, BTW) Citgo stations left in the nation because of your (pointless and uneffective) "boycott" Citgo/Chavez's gasoline would still be sold at other stations and you would still be buying it.....even at supposedly "top tier" stations like Exxon/Shell/Chevron....

When I started working at Citgo, Chavez wasn't in office, and it was just another third world oil rich country to me.....Even now that Chavez is in office (BTW, most Venezuelians don't support him) Venezuela is still not a threat to the U.S. -- Sure Chavez gets on T.V. and makes remarks and has meetings with other commies/dictators but it will never amount to anything......especially compared to the terrorist nations that export the oil that pretty much all of the other companies refine. So while your filling your tank and feeling oh-so-patriotic pumping non-citgo branded (which you have no idea where it comes from) gas, you are putting money into the hands of real terrorists....the muslims who vow to kill all non believers.

So you do whater makes you feel good.....but if you would wake up and see things objectively, you wouldn't be going out of your way to waste your time.

It is easy to avoid citgo stations up my way, they are all abandoned because of lack of business or changed oil companies....I think that sent a big capitalist message to our buddy hugo, but I agree, gas is gas, you don't know if you are getting his in the system or any other countries.........
