Default Which air induction system?

The various air induction systems claim from 10 to 30 or more hp gain, and I know nothing about any of them. Which system is the best for a C6, and how much hp gain should I reallly expect? Are there any problems or maintenance issues with there systems? It looks like many of you prefer the veraram system.

Thanks,

Jack

True.

I wouldn't expect to actually see much of a horsepower gain at all with any of these air intake systems, at least not on a dynomometer while standing still.

It's once moving and out on the drag strip where they (ESPECIALLY the Vararam) really shine.
You will still feel the gains even if the dyno won't show them.

They can claim whatever they want but the proof is in the pudding!!VARARAM is the way to go!2-3 mph at the strip and I forget how much quicker time wise it is!!Of course those big filters sure do look pretty under there!!

IMO there are several decent CAI's but I recommend the Lingenfelter high-flow air intake. The name "Lingenfelter" is synonymous with Corvette performance and they make quality products.

I've been extremely pleased with the LPE intake. It's a true bottom-feeder drawing-in cool air from underneath the front of the car. Although, I exercise caution when driving in heavy rain (and I avoid plowing through deep standing water), my LPE intake has gone through numerous torrential downpours without incident.

I live down a dusty, dirt road and my LPE intake handles the high levels of dust just fine. When changing the air filter you have to slightly raise the front of the car to remove the air box but it's not difficult to do. You can clean, oil and re-use the filters as well.

I can't isolate the performance results of just the LPE CAI but my car breathes well. Just adding an after market intake isn't going to make a 'miraculous' improvement in performance but as one component of many in the entire system that can be improved-upon, IMO the intake is essential.

Before you buy, I suggest you at least visit the LPE web site or better yet, call LPE and get information direct from the source. IMO you can't do any better than the LPE intake.

A stupid question, but I assume any aftermarket air induction system like this would void the warranty?

That's purely subjective and truly dependent upon exactly what one would classify as/consider 'miraculous'.

Been running a HallTech Stinger for 2 years and never had a problem. Still one of the best aftermarket parts I put on the car. The stock setup is way to constricted....this was the first thing I bought when I got the car. If you have the windows down and you hammer on it you can hear it sucking the air.

Here is a pic...

Good information guys.

I've not heard of the Vararam before, I'll do some research on it.

Anyone else with the LPE?

I had a Vararam and changed to a LPE. The Vararam works good but quality is not very good. The LPE works as good with much better quality and will work with their 100maf and the Maggie122.

I'm predjudiced AGAINST the Vararam myself. I don't like the quality at all and I bought one for my Silverado and took it off after a few months because I literally felt a decrease in performance AND my fuel economy went down.

I went with the Breathless Perfomance CAI. It also is a true ramair intake and I did notice an improvement in perfomance immediately.

Just my .02 and YMMV

Paul

PS. if anyone wants to buy a Vararam for a late model 5.3 L Chevrolet or GM truck just let me know ;-)

Callaway Honker. The best cold air intake out here. Gives you the performance of the Vararam but much better quality
