Default shaving weight

Anybody have any idea the approximate weight of the stock seats in the 1LZ Optioned C6 -I'm replacing them with Corbeau seats
Also the weight of the stock hood, I'm replacing that with a real carbon fiber vented supercharger hood Any other suggestions for shaving weight would help-a billet aluminum flywheel sounds good although I've heard not exactly street friendly-Thanks to all

You can loose 15 to 20 lbs by installing a Braille battery. Check with member Bowmanized, thats who I bought mine from.

PFADT motor and tranny mounts, this will get rid of wheel hop, and help with acceleration too!

Stock power seats weight approx. 50lbs. Floor mats another 5-6lbs, engine covers about 2lbs, hood liner about 5lbs, all four center caps about 1lb total, winshield washer fluid 6lbs a gallon.

There are a number of ways to drop quite a few pounds...
  • LG Pro Headers. Approx 28 lb savings
  • Borla Sport or B&B Bullet. Approx 8-10 lb savings
  • ForgeLine ZX3R wheels. Approx 10-12 lb savings (set)
  • LW racing seat with fixed mount. Approx 38-45 lb savings
  • 14" BBK, StopTech. Approx 10-12 lb savings each corner
  • LG Coil overs. Approx 9 lb savings unsprung each corner
  • Carbon hood. Approx 30 lb savings
  • Non runflat tires Approx 3-5 lb savings each
  • LW clutch Approx 25-32 lbs

There are many ways to remove weight from the car, and the above is probably the most popular ways to do this and still acheive where you are wanting to go with the car and stay very street friendly.

Of course there are further ways to do this by removing radio, speakers, carpet, A/C, trim panels, glass, side impact, air bags...but at that point you are not street friendly, and in some cases not street legal by removing a lot of the factory safety items.

Un-sprung and rotational weight are the biggest gains.

One of the reasons why you see and feel a noticeable increase with the lighter brakes, wheels, and clutches.

Just a side note, 1LZ is the base C6 Z06 option package and 1LT (or 1SX in 2005) is the base 'non Z06' C6 option package, if that's what you'd meant.
All C6/Z06 driver's seats are powered but even among those there will be two different weights, one with multiple power adjustments (lumber etc.) plus side airbags and one that is just basic power fore and aft so I'm not quite sure which one that 60-66 pound weight mentioned above applies to.
Passenger seats on the base packages have no power at all saving even more weight.

That just gave me an idea...any chance that the lighter/non power base passenger seat fits on the driver's side at all (obviously the reclining machanism would then be on the wrong side)?

I diet a week out from the strip. I can shave 10-12 pounds in that time. No joke. Lol.

It's been said already but a full exhaust with headers will shave 30-40 lbs. I lost 10 lbs per tire when I went to PS2s. So two easy mods you are going to do already and you can knock off 70 lbs.

Yes-Thank you

R u referring to the 14" stoptech rotors. I have the Z-51 Rotors any difference in weight? What about calipers-does stoptech utilize 4 or 6 piston for my C6?

Does your company sell them? Thanks

We sure do, we carry StopTech, Brembo, Wilwood, and others!

A stock Z51 rotor is roughly 27 lbs each, the StopTech 14" two piece assembly is going to weigh in at 18 lbs. Saving about 9lbs each. The most extreme case is going to be with the C6Z in that their rotors are roughly 30lbs each...saving 12lbs on each rotor alone.

With the base model cars either the 4 piston or 6 piston caliper is going to weigh a little more but nothing much than a couple pounds.

Systems can be had with either 4 or 6 piston caliper models.

No, it's a company that makes a series of small, lightweight batteries (although they might make some 'close to full size' versions as well) that can save some weight off the nose of a C6 (or the rear of a C6 Z06).
I wouldn't sit in the car with the radio on and the starter button in 'accessory mode' for too long if I had one of the small ones in there though.
