Default Srt-10 vs. C6

Since I got my LS3 C6 (Z51, NPP) in October all I've heard from my dad is trash-talking that his Viper (2003 w/ Magnaflow) would still mop the floor with my shiny new ride. In an effort to shut him up, I accepted (perhaps very foolishly) his challenge for a race on New Year's Day. The race is rolling start, 40-100.

In an effort to prepare, I was going to install a CAI and a 3.90 (I'd go 4.10, but I do a lot of highway driving).

What are the forum's thoughts? Do I have a chance, or have I bitten off more than I can chew? Any recommendations for what I can do to tip the scales in my favor, not void my warranty and not totally deplete my bank account?

1. You will lose unless you do full bolt ons which *may* put you on top
2. You will need a cam to ensure a win
3. This will be locked as soon as the mods see it

Quick. Supercharge it. Stock idle, and you'll eat him up. What's 7-8 grand when it comes to saving face!

Headers and a tune will help.

No contest SRT all the way in a short blast like that and a stock LS3.

Unless, of course he smokes the rubber off the tires and you get out 2 cars or so. Not likely he will reel you in by 100 with that kindof ground to make up.

On a LS3 ...
I think Intake , Headers and tune should net you about 420-430 rwhp ...
That should be enough to give him all he can handle...
Plus your lighter by about 250 lbs...Good luck and IBTL..
Track it !

Especially from a roll he will stomp you. Why not go from a dig and see what happens?

SRT-10 all the way, even a ZO6 would have problems with the SRT-10, you will need a H/C package or supercharger to take him. The only thing going for you is if your father doesn't know how to drive and he smokes his tires.

2003 Viper = 3,386lbs, 500.1 bhp at 5600 rpm 525.0 ft lbs at 4200 rpm. I say you lose unless you do some serious mods... Could be a fun race though...
In times like that I am glad I have my supercharger... My car would eat that Dodge for lunch

When I got my 06 Viper (same car) it felt very weak (weak factory tune). It only dyno'd at 432 rwhp and 459 rwtq stock. The stock ls3 usually dynos at 375 rwhp so your down 50+ and you have torque management. I dont think the weight difference will be enough to make it close. As soon as I tuned mine with exhaust and gears it shot up to 480 rwhp. Run him now before he gets any other mods!

um...no
unless we're talking about the SRT Ram.
