Where did you read this blatent lie?

We've shut the shop down EVERY SINGLE YEAR for the last 7 years in a row from Dec. 24th. to Jan. 4th. to clear out old inventory, perform shop maint. and re-organize for the next year, so you'd think some of you would know that by now instead of creating false rumors online, when all you would have had to do was to take 1 minute to pick up the phone to call.... In fact, I made this very clear announcement on this very board in 7 different sections BEFORE Christmas just to give everyone a heads-up, but some of you *still* like to churn the false rumor mill for your own amusement... This very reason of drama that grown, adult men create here is why I don't come online around here much anymore...

We're here and we're doing just fine.

Whats your problem man! The guy asked a simple question. Where in this thread do you see false rumors started? I think maybe your tinfoil hat is to tight. And if you dont come online here much anymore I think we as a group here should avoid doing business with a company who has such distain for us. You should take a refresher course on how to treat potential customers. I will not give you my business.

You clarifying the situation is appropriate but some of your comments are way off-base IMHO. The man asked a simple question. I hardly see where anyone was 'churning the rumor mill for their own amusement.' Talk about "drama" from grown, adult men. I'm glad you're doing so well.

Glad to hear it isn't true. Definitely think the harsh response was unwarranted. The guy asking the question was probably doing you a favor by pointing it out and asking the question since he read it somewhere else. I read a lot of the threads on CF and never saw any mention of you shutting down for the holidays, and don't see how its even relevant to the OP's question (especially in todays economy).

No drama here, no amusement, and again glad things are well with you guys. I'll chalk the response up to a bad morning, everyone has them.

Happy New Year.

I think that Phil was reacting to several untruths that have been told about him over several years by some of his rivals . I would get tired of it too ! I am also sorry that you would not consider giving him any busness just because of his post which may have shown a little anger . I read posts here every day with MORE anger than Phil's expressed . I will tell you that I have been to DTE three times and was always treated very well . And , I have never had ANY PROBLEMS with the work performed or the tuning that Phil did himself . In my honest opinion , Phil runs a quality business , he has a right to get a little "hot" every now and then .

I understand what you're saying Larry but his post clearly attacks members here and not his competition. He clearly needs to learn where to focus his anger. As someone said before ,the OP seemed concerned and asked an innocent question and was rudley attacked. Last week I had a Vortech put on my car and began thinking how long things will hold together. DTE was one of the shops that ran through my head for future mods. His blatant disrespect slammed that door real fast! There are other companys that perform similar work. Long live Free Capitalism. That's understandable but it is still likely better to simply address the one specific post/issue at hand instead of throwing out a blatantly angry, blanket blasting of people/posters in general.
When I go to a deli for a sandwich I certainly hope (assume) that the person behind the counter isn't going to throw my food at me simply because the customer before me gave him a hard time...though I suppose that it does happen that exact way sometimes.

Maybe you should take some of that time for vacation since you're doing so well. You sound like you could use the time off..

If you've owned your own business, it's easier to understand the frustration -- even the absurdity -- of hearing questions that are the opposite of news that you've publicized. Or that has been a years-long tradition. Or that a phone call could've clarified.

The OP was an innocent enough guy. He was probably the latest in a series of queries overheard by DTE on this topic.

This has happened before to other vendors. I have to say: vendors are generally very good at being patient when, let's face it, most of us here would blow our stacks.

Give out your personal cell number? Repeat over the telephone the information that already appears in your product instructions? Send emails that explain what already appears on your web site? Take calls late at night? Some of you vendors must be chomping on antacid tablets all week long.

Who's your worst nightmare customer? Every sales office can rattle off one or two.

Like everybody else, I love being treated to great customer service. But I also like the idea that the vendor dude and his staff have lives of their own.

Just my two cents.

I hope they aren't going out of business. I have a car at DTE.

EuroRod was on here at 6:28pm but has not posted where he read DTE was closing their doors. If he can post where he read it, then he's an innocent bystander passing bad information....if he can't post where he read it, then he's starting a dangerous rumor that could have bad business consequences as noted/proven in the above posts.
