Default Corsa Exhaust Problems

I had a Corsa Sport (14169) exhaust system installed on my 08 vert in December of 07. Since then I have had to return to the installer three times to re tighten loose clamps. I noticed yesterday the left side has slipped again and now the right side is making a squeaking noise. I'm not inclined to keep going back to the installer (this would be the fourth time) every few months.

Has anyone else had this problem? I had Tri-Flow on my other vettes, and never had this kind of problem. Anyone have any ideas on a solution? Thanks in advance.

The only thing I'd suggest is that the clamps that hold the tailpipe to the muffler have to be positioned at the very end of the split pipe so it will compress that split pipe and hold securely. Otherwise it will not compress the pipe and will never be secure.

You can take this for what it's worth but the service manual says the clamps are a one use item and "must be replaced" whenever they are removed. So that applies to the clamps at the end of the "H" pipe. To replace them you have to grind the tack weld off. GM wants something like $30 for a clamp but you can get them directly from after market suppliers for like $10. The manufacturer is AccuSeal. Recommended torque is 32 ft-lbs. Good luck.

I've had the Corsa Sport exhaust (quad tips) on my C6 for 2+ years. I live down a rutted, bumpy dirt road and I push the car hard on run road courses monthly. I've never had to re-tighten my exhaust mounts.

After 3 trips to your installer to fix the same problem I'd question whether they know what they're doing. I suggest you find a different shop to analyze and remedy the problem.

This problem is not unique to corsa. Any slip fit , clamped pipe joint can "move" . Rather than weld, what I like to do, after I have everything aligned properly ,is drill an 1/8" hole through the pipe joint in question and install a stainless or aluminum rivet . This prevents slip and twist, and can easily be drilled out , if necessary, for removal ,etc. There are also premium stainless clamps available that bite better. Jegs or Summit carry them, among others.

Thanks for the input. I called Corsa and told them my problem. They were very helpful and said they would send me a new set of clamps, at no charge. Wanted me to try these first, because they felt the old clamps were stretched somehow. So, I'll try that first. However, if they slip again I'm going with the rivet suggestion...that to me seems to be the sure fire way to solve it.

Thanks again for your ideas.

Corsa calls for a specific 45ft lb torque and the torca clamps must be positioned at the end of the expanded tube. Rivets or screws of any type are totally unnecessary. I've had Corsa on several vehicles and never had a loosening problem.

Now that's a great idea. Thanks!

When the clamps are torqued properly I have never had a Corsa pipe joint come loose. I have a Corsa system on my personal Z and its been operating flawlessly. Also I recommend double checking the torque after a few heat cycles, that assures a tight connection.

I am about to swap out my BORLA STINGER system with the BORLA TOURING system....looks pretty straight forward...Can I use the existing clamps at the muffler to cat pipe connection...or will I encounter similar headaches as above?????

Thnx

I would. And I'd order a couple new ones if I had a problem.

Happened to me with my 05 z51 with Corsa sports and my 08 z06 with Corsas. Had them tack welded in a couple small spots so they would be easy to take off with a little grinding and never had them slip out again
