I don't really agree with your assessment of the C5 interior. To me it just plain ugly. I think that this is one of the biggest improvements of the corvette.
EDIT: although I gotta say the HUD lettering looks cooler in the c5, I have to agree with that.
For the HUD comparison pictures, you should have put the C6 into a similar mode/page to compare. The C5 picture is clearly a brochure picture, and real life doesn't usually look as good. It does look intriguing however.
C5 was revolutionary. C6 is refinement of C5. It was planned that was during C5 development. I suggest the book "All Corvettes are Red", about C5 development. It's tedious at times, but you can see how we got here from there. C6 was going back and doing the C5 again better, retaining a lot of the design and some major parts.
I can't coment on the C6/C5 HID debate because I have not seen both side by side but I will say this, the C5 HUD in the above post is a doctored photo. We have an infocus picture of the insterment panel, the HUD and out at infinity. Sorry, not a camera made can do this. Now look at the C6, the only thing in focus is the HUD display. In addition it looks like the brightness is turned all the way up.
If you are going to compare pictures at least use real pic's.
I love the looks of the C5...except the interior. The interior was what kept me from loving corvettes pre-2005. I have to be happy with the interior of a car.
To me, the C5 HUD is much clearer and bigger. Look for yourself:
Here ya go....
C5 HUD =
C6 HUD =
Thanks thats better. It does appear that the C5 is a bit sharper. I wonder if it is the difference in color used. I know the C6 HUD is very bright and unless the sun is directly behind it I can see it in all light conditions.

Still looks old, outdated, cheap and plain.
An the BLACK SPRAY BOMB is what the interior of a Z06 car that retailed for over 60,000 dollars looked like. I can not believe anyone would pay that kind of money back in 2001 - 2004 to sit in a plastic tub.

when I first saw the C5 I tought it looked nice until I saw
the interior... no thank`s !!!!
Some of the above replies are out of line. Look, I did an honest review and you got people here trashing the C5 and being just plain nasty to me.
Gotta love those Vette owners. Trash every Vette, except the one they own. Trash every Vette owner, except themselves.
I appreciate your comments and respect your opinions but we all see things differently. Just because someone disagrees with your opinion or expresses a negative comment doesn't mean they're being "nasty" to you personally. A forum should be a free exchange of information, ideas, experiences and opinions...both positive and negative opinions. This forum would be next to worthless if all you read were positive comments.
Don't be so sensitive about contrary opinions or negative comments. They don't lessen the value of your opinion or comments and they're not a personal attack....differing points of view are to be expected and IMO encouraged. We're all passionate about Corvette's and we all have our own opinions.
Thanks for sharing your evaluation and comparison of the C5 and C6!

To be honest, I had to check the date of your original post because when I saw it I thought it was from 2005. Perhaps your opinions would carry more weight if you had offered them over 4 years ago, when the data would be more relevent. At this point, I think some people just thought you were whining. I just thought you were caught in a time warp.
I loved my C5 and love my C6 even more. But I specifically remember telling myself, if they didn't update the interior I wasn't buying a C6. Thank God GM felt it was neccessary too. Peace.
