1972Bluelt1 - What you have in your cars "fix" appears to be the "zip-tie" fix some have used to hold the connector in place without movement; as well as tape to help with the "hold". Some vehicles, apparently yours is one, have had good success with this fix, combined with the "comb".
I have to agree, don't fix, or mess with it, if it's working for you.

I've had ten years of this message and attendant locking up of left brake,(so I had to restart car) showing up. And I've had the "ends" taped up (a couple times), I had it zip-tied, and I've had the "comb/clip" done.

The latter is the longest lasting "fix", but is still an issue. It still locks up in tight turns, Many times stranding in the middle of traffic.

There is no permanent fix.

Fortunately mine is just the tight left-turning slow speed version.

There are still cars on the road with the high speed- throw you off the road version out there.

And I cannot believe this has not become a recall!

There are enough scary stories in this thread alone, that It should have been a recall long ago.

interesting info but have not read through the entire thread yet…i have an 09 z51, never had issues…in fact drove it a bit 2 sundays ago with no problems (about 2-3 hours worth of driving), parked in the garage and started her up last sunday and both Service Active Handling and Service Traction System turned on the dash…I restarted the car and same issue…i took it for a test drive and it drove OK…but now im a little concerned theres a bigger risk involved

i need to change my license plate to "MNEYPIT" or something

one question, it looks like the cars affected by this are 2005-2008…is there anything going on with any years above that, that are related?…i have a 1LT so no telescoping wheel…seems like my case may be a little different...

It affects cars that don't have the telescoping wheel, too. Many w/o it have complained along with the rest of us.

I haven't read all of the posts here but my car is giving me the "service active handing" message along with the airbag light. My car also applied brakes pretty hard at low speed 3 times in 3 days. I wasn't sure if it was just my shifting or something or the car itself until today, it was obviously the car applying brakes on it's own. Sucks! Now I have to trust the dealer with it. Damn it. Car is an 08 by the way.

This issue is most active in 2004 - 2007. 2008 models had some electrical schematic changes, and seem to have less issue. 2009 models were totally reconfigured, and seemingly corrected the issue.

Am I missing something, or is that just a typo? 2004?

I have the Cadillac XLR. The same electrical system as the Chevy Corvette. As the year 2004 has the identical system from 2004 -2007, I am, of course, assuming the 2004 Corvette did too. My apologies if not.

I have not read the whole thread, so this might have been reported by someone else but I found a solution for my issue.

I have a 2012 Coupe and my car had all 3 of the warnings for ABS/Traction Control. It seemed that they would happen for no reason at all. I'd be driving along slow (under 30 MPH) and it would throw the error. It would also happen randomly. As time went on, it started happening more frequently. I called several auto parts stores to see if they could read the error codes. None of them could read the codes, only engine codes. So I looked around the web on how to troubleshoot ABS issues and found an article from Popular Mechanics on how to test the sensors with a multimeter.

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars.../a461/2265091/

I have a digital multimeter, so I started at the right front and pulled the wheel, did a visual and checked for broken wires or bad connections. Then I tried testing with the multimeter. At first I had some problems getting the leads into the connector and finding the right settings on the meter but found that I would get a reading of around 1.65 on the 20M ohm scale of my digital multimeter. I'm not sure if that is correct or not, but at least it wasn't an open circuit. I tested each corner and they were all close to the original value I saw so I just put everything back together thinking that I would have to take the car to a shop to have them look at it further.

I took it out for a test drive after my troubleshooting and noticed that the error was not showing as quick as what it had just before I took it apart. It didn't mean much cause as I said it was random.

So far I have driven it over 800 miles and did several runs in the country preparing for a club run that I was hosting. To my delight, I have not seen the error at all. I'm beginning to think that my problem was a connection problem and my checking each of the sensors made me reconnect the offending sensor(s).

My point is, this is relatively easy to jack up each corner and check the connection. It might just help one of y'all.

I'd also clean any connectors with CRC contact cleaner. Had good with this product. Don't want to say too much and have it bite me in the butt next time I drive that car.

Ok. Since I disconnected and reconnected all the sensors, I was doing really good until the other day. Driving along and hit a bump on the freeway and immediately had my 3 warning messages show up on the DIC.

It started happening frequently again (like every day) so last weekend, I disconnected and reconnected the front 2 sensor and so far so good. Again.

Use some dialectic grease on the connections and see if that lasts longer.

Where do you put the grease? Isn't dielectric grease used as a insulator?

Each wheel has a plug that is the connection to the wheel speed sensor. Disconnect and apply the grease there at each wheel.

This has prevented my issues since last September. Other than one day when the Service Active Handling lights came on and didn't clear with a restart. Next day and every day since I have been fine.
