my buddy owns a shop, and was able to do my ported intake, headers/cats/hpipe/ and a 160 thermostat in about 3.5 hours. If you can get under your car, and have some decent tools, you could knock out the headers in an afternoon.

Im prolly goin go ahead and order the headers. My questions are that the car is used as a DD and it already has borla on it will the catless headers make it drone really bad or not to bad? I had catless X and borlas on my mustang and i didnt see what the big deal was as it didnt bother me at all, but is it much worse on the corvette? Im young and dont mind a little noise =] I just dont want it to be insane loud from inside. Or should i wait and order some headers with cats?

It's gonna be loud with LTs, no cats, borlas. Yes.

But will it be unbearable for a DD? My mustang use to be loud but i enjoyed that deep musle car sound. The only car i counldnt stand was my freinds mustang with Macs exhaust it sounded like a trumpet going off inside the car. Also LG wont install catless but they will if they have cats that what my freind said because he called for me. So mabe I should just get some cats?

It could be that they don't want to run the risk of getting fined.

Texas Speed is a mail-order catalog store, not a speed shop. Hence they don't do installs.

I think you'll find most or all of the name shops won't do a catless install because they run the risk of big trouble from the EPA. If you want catless, do it yourself, or find a friend or local guy who is more willing. Me, l'd just get cats. It stinks without them.

My advice? Go to LG, who I believe is currently running a special, and have them install THEIR headers. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the price.

Since the founders were fellow moderators at LS1Tech, let me clean-up the above statement.

They do a lot of "speed shop" work including building their own motors, machine work, and their own R&D. You'll also find at least 1 book on LSx engine modification written by Joseph Potak if you search on his name. They do install work if it involves a motor or other large projects. They do not do routine exhaust work for the reasons others have explained - moving the cats from the stock location is illegal.

Take it to LGM.. problem solved...
A bit of a hike from Lubbock, but definitely a good choice.

They do cam installs and other things just not exhaust. I have run into the same issue I'm looking at getting headers, cam, tune, CAI. I was just going to get them to do it all at once, but after talking to them looks like I'll do the headers before hand then take it up there for the cam and tune. I called LGM, but they were significantly higher than Texas Speed and over twice as far away from me.

Actually we do a ton of installs, but usually are so busy that we don't advertise the service. Long-Tube headers and corresponding CC removal/relocation are a cut-and-dry EPA no-no though, but if you have them installed yourself and then come in for further work I won't say anything.

I'm a believer in if you own the car you should be able to do whatever you please, but laws are laws and when you pay someone to install your mods, they become liable for the exhaust modifications, not the car owner whom requested said service...

I highly recommend 21st Century Muscle Cars (an authorized Lingenfelter installer). Call John Page...he'll hook you up just fine.

thanks. I am glad my guys were able to work this out for you. I am not sure which headers you worked out with them but we have every header in stock and our install prices are really good because we want to keep the headers going out the door.

thanks for considering us. Let me know personally if the guys take good care of you.

I'll See you when you come in for the work.
