Default LG header leak

Anyone having issues with LG headers leaking? I keep getting gassed while stopped in traffic... literally.

We tried tightening & re-tightening the clamps. Looks like it's between the header & x-pipe.

Any ideas?

going to muffler shop monday

Yup, mine leaked and were defective on my 07, when I had them. The slip fits always leak, no matter how much retightening I did, and the rear right pipe would rub against the transmission.

I had a slight leak on my street series headers, same spot as you. After 3 trips to the shop, they were sick of fixing my leaks so they gave me some heavy duty clamps. That b*tch aint leakin now.

I seem to remember that the clamps on LG Street headers were a problem on the C5 systems, don't know if that applies to the C6 systems or not. If so, most people just replaced them with heavier units.

Going on almost 51,000 miles with mine, without leaks.

Give us a buzz at the shop, maybe it's something that I can take care of over the phone. I know if the pipes are not slid all the way into the slip, it doesn't matter how tight you get it they will not seal as there is a gap there, so the pipes must be slid in all the way before tightening.

Factory catback to mid pipe is a slip fit . GM Engineers must have done something right!!

All catbacks are slip fit! Headers are a different story! Need that bolt on collector like the factory has, along with most all brands, but LG!

C5 catbacks are not slip fit

To each his own, I have had ball and sockets leak as well. Ground clearance, weight, price, preference all come into play. We have been doing slips for years Many many happy customers, just that you never see a post when something comes together correctly, only when it doesn't come together
