Default What to do with 2k

I have saved up about 2,000 dollars. Im close to texas speed or LG mortor sports. I was planing on driving to one to have some work done to my car the problem is I dont know what to do. I have a Z51 with just a vararam intake. So I was looking for some opinions on what to do. This will include the price of parts and install cost. So what differnt combos can I do in the 2,000 range , any help would be great .

The most off your 1/4 will come from a stall converter. I cut 4 tenths off of my time.

Did you add that on stock tires? Also how does the car drive around the city with a stall converter? How much would a stall converter and gears cost installed?

most will say for sure LG headers, tune and you should have enough money left to have either of those shops port stock TB and intake manifold..160 thermostat.. it will be pushing budget..

now, if you're a good scavenger and want to really stretch your money find some stock Z06 exhaust manifolds instead of new headers, have TB ported and a ported Fast 92 by Spinmonster and a tune.. should put you right at $2k..

i would agree but i would look for a FAST 90 because its not much hp difference if any and its alot cheaper. with this combo i would guess you would have about 370RWHP or so.

the FAST is an after market intake manifold usually adds about 20 to 25 RWHP on a stock internal motor.

good luck

So with this I would gain about 40 RWHP? If I just got headers it would only be at 30 RWHP for the same price? So may be porting and Z06 exhaust is the best way to go?

remember with the FAST you have to modify to fit the firewall and hardware to mate up with the fuel rails or new fuel rails. All that is extra money.

send it to spin to have it ported/back modified to fit and he will send you all that you need to put the manifold on your car, its a simple thing to do. i forgot what spin charged for the porting and firewall mod but i think its right around 300 and you can find FAST 90 for about 600 to 700.

Headers and Tune would be the best choice. How close are you to DFW?

I am pretty sure we can get you out the door with Headers + dyno tune. Depending on choices, you will leave our shop with money in your pocket!

Let me know if you have any questions.

I can't find the thread but if I remember correctly Z06 exhaust manifolds will get you 15rwhp, that added to the 20 the ported FAST gets you 35.. then the rest is up to your tuner.. you should come out to around 40 to 45 rwhp .. it's not much more hp than what a set of headers will give you but you will save about $500 going this route. If you can find a set of used headers then I would get those over Z06 manifolds for sure. I would run a post over in the Z06 section and I bet there's someone over there who installed headers and would give you their stock manifolds for the cost of shipping only..

I wouldn't think the Z06 manifolds would make much difference in exhaust sound.. but they will flow much better than the one's you have..

I wish someone would chime in who has installed Z06 exhaust manifolds on their LS2 so we could get some facts rather than my assumptions...

No I dont think I have ever done a pass with the converter and stock tires. I am using Micky Thompson 275/45/17s. The car drives great with the converter. It is a ss3600. If you are really concerned about 1/4 mile times this is by far the best mod. Headers and a tune are great but you are not going to get the same reduction in ET as a Stall.

The Converter is about $800 probably another $400 or so to install it.

Here is a video of the launch.

Spin modifies the FAST so, you don't have to touch the firewall. Just change the O-rings on the fuel injectors (Blue ones, I think they are for a FORD) and for the fuel rails you don't need a new one.

I'm running a SPIN Ported FAST 92. I was there when he out it on. I don't remember him adding anything but different O-Rings to my injectors.

Think I can get the fast intake ,Z06 exhaust, and Ported TB for 2k? This would include parts install cost and tune cost.
