cheap money --GEARS!!!
more expensive-- gears and heads only(keep intake speeds high and bump cr)
most expensive --root or pos disp blower
I would not change out the OEM cam if low end is the most important parameter. Most of the dyno graphs I see do not improve low end perf much if at all. I AM CALLING LOW END IDLE TO 2200 RPMS--LOW LOW LOW BABY Are you more interested in the power or increased throttle response? Kind of related but different animals too. After all, gears do not make power but get you to or keep you more toward the sweet spot in the rpm range where torque is coming on.
Gotcha. I'm looking for power that comes on 2k and above, though more power from idle on up would be great too. It seems the power, at least for my gearing (Z51) comes on above 3k, especially above 4.2k or so. I usually short shift, 3k or so since I have a few blocks of driving before getting on the i-way. Not enough road to enjoy the higher rpms. Would be nice. And definately not enough safety or legal to enjoy it on the i-way. I am thinking that having fun between the stop lights would be enjoyable, even though it would still be within the speedlimit. Seat of the pants torque that hints of greater things to come.
I agree gearing would make it spool faster, but I am looking for more power. Seems I have to go down the pedal more than I care at times for something with this hp. Funny thing, which I've posted about on here before is that at times, mine will take off like it has a mind of its on. It catches me by surprise, its that strong of a take off. Other times it acts like its lean almost coughing itself out.

Short shifting is causing the biggest problem A blower is an expensive cure for driving a car so far out of its power band.
Gears would really help because if you short shift a 4.10 car, it is still way more responsive than a stock geared car. You don't list any mods, so look at getting a tune. First, a little part throttle work could pay big dividends at low rpms. Second, talk to other 2005 owners on the board. IIRC, 2005 throttle tip-in seems sluggish due to the electronic throttle control. That can be fixed with a tune.
