Dear Moderators - don't shut this down too soon. This is NEW information. GM has no record of the recall that some 22,000 of us have been looking for. Follow up calls to the NHTSA finally produced a gentleman who was aware of the problem and said that it was expected that the recall would start by the end of this month. So we will have to hang in there for a while. Hopefully there won't be too many flying roofs while we wait.
There is likely a limited supply of replacement roofs at this moment since the roof replacement will also include the metal frame underneath the plastic skin.

RyanC6.... I just bought a 2005 C6 (BTW same color as yours....) and find out there is this roof recall and my VIN falls in the range shown in the post by Ammo...........I see you are in Ashburn, I am in Purcellville, are you going to deal with Jerry's Chevy in Leesburg? I was just there 2 weeks ago for a new FOB, and they said they informed me of a recall on the roof adhesive, and they would call me when the adhesive came in. I never heard back from them, guess I have to call them and see if I will get a new roof and not just the adhesive foam..............
I wonder why the dealer I called is acting dumb about this. Only 30 cars in 07 involved it looks like. Mine is 75110030, at first I thought I was one of them. Good info Ammo
The VIN on my 2005 falls within the range you have noted. I met with my local Chevy dealer on Sat and they want my vette for an entire day to determine if they will just repair the adhesive or order a roof replacement..............I don't want them taking advantage of me (being a woman). They already tried to charge me an extra $40 to program my new FOB, told me it took the mechanic extra time "because it was a Corvette"...........I asked what the usual time for programming a FOB was.......they told me it took extra time because the mechanic ran into complications and the car will not unlock now, and he is on the phone with GM....I said, was it due to him being inexperienced and an experienced mechanic would have finished it in the allotted time? He said, maybe so, but I need to pay my man for the 3 hours it took to do this job...........I said, my car came in here with a working FOB, I am not paying your man for his extra time, he finally agreed to reduce my bill............the woman behind the cashiers desk just about applauded me and said, you go girl, don't let them take advantage of you like that!!!! So, after this experience, I had considered never returning to this Chevy dealer, but with a recall, I feel I must deal with them again..............and advice on not getting taken advantage on this time around?

This dealer is likely not trying to take advantage of you because you are a woman. This is just one of those dealers that continues to subscribe to the always-take-advantage-of-the-customer-in-every-way approach with men, women, and owners of any make or model that drives through their portal.
If you return to this dealer you will be further subjected to their service mode.
Avoid this dealer by simply never returning.
Today there are dealers who understand what customer service must be and treat most customers properly.
There are many dealer mechanics who understand Corvettes and their technical requirements. These mechanics can and will fix problems in reasonable time the first time.

Just keep this guys name in mind when you need to buy a car or parts.
Ken Fichtner
He is one of the most respected dealers out there and yes I purchased my car from him for a museum pickup back in 2006 sight unseen as a first time corvette buyer and would do it again.
2006 Chevrolet Corvette 65100001 65131106 . . . Mine is 65131542 so is out of the range. Not sure if I am relieved or more concerned. It has popped and creaked since new and several remedy attempts have failed to fix the problem. Even the Bowling Green engineer was perplexed. Guess I just drive and pray to not join the FRC!!

I dropped my top off at the dealer without the car and they gave me a new one painted. They swapped over the latches.
Of course, I had to adjust the latches to fit correctly which I was more than happy to do to avoid them messing with my car.
They messed up the paint so they had to redo it. I told them not to color sand it or buff it. I did that myself. This is more than the average owner has the skills to do.
The reason they need the car is to adjust the latches to get a proper fit and seal.
The service departments make the money at the dealership, so they are motivated to provide and charge you for services. Most of the repairs are billed at a standard time rate. If the technician completes the job in 30 minutes when the books says 60, they still bill you 60. There is no justification for a simple reprogramming of a FOB to bill you more than 30 minutes in my opinion. I don't know the book time, but I can't imagine it taking more than 30 minutes.
I'm picking up this recall very late so please bear with me. I was aware of the campaign GM ran back in 2005 (NHTSA Recall Campaign Number: 05V455000). The deal was: if there was any indication of roof separation they replaced the top. If not, the dealer would add additional adhesive and send you on your way. I fell into the second solution.
Now this new campaign (NHTSA Recall Campaign Number: 09V491000) also appears to include me -- based on the VIN numbers that AMMO supplied above and it sounds like they are gonna replace roofs. I called GM around Dec 29th and they didn't know anything. From the sounds of her mimicking everything I said, I was probably speaking to India --either way she was not aware of a recall.
Does anyone know if GM going to replace my roof or am I excluded 'cause they already glued it?

The second recall is largely about the fact that reglueing has been shown not to be a permanent solution. If after reglueing and your roof is currently starting to separate, I think there is no doubt that GM will replace your roof with a new one consisting of an SMC plastic skin. It is unclear to me whether or not GM will proceed to replace a previously reglued roof if it hasn't started to separate again. I had my roof replaced last month when it started to separate. It had been originally safety recall inspected and reglued nearly three years ago.
My C6 had been reglued when the prior owner owned it as well. I didn't want to return to the Chevy dealer in my area, just didn't get a "warm fuzzy" feeling there. Thanks for your advice on this issue, PeterSG!! I went to my GMC dealer this morning that services my dually and has been assisting me with my trucks now since 1989 on a friendly first name basis, and they just ordered me a new roof for the vette!!! They come in unpainted and they will send it to a reputable body shop, Stingrays Auto Body (how perfect), to paint it ...........fingers cross on it having a great paint job and fitting well with no noise. Good luck to everyone else on getting this recall taken care of properly and quickly!!!! Heard rumor that the Chevy dealer I will NOT return to will be closing soon.............
My 06 is outside the VIN range.
I believe I have the the triple bonded solution.
It was making popping sounds so bad and was in fear it was going to fly off, I bought the clear roof. Though it had not seperated yet, you could push on it and hear the pops.
I am going to see if a dealer will take care of me anyways. I do not want to put that roof back on. The popping noise alone would drive you daft.
