Well I started removing the Intake, FAST, Spark Plug Xmers and there is always something thats going to hang you up. This time its that stupid plastic Connector on the passenger side firewall. I guess its ceased from the heat or something. anyway I will cut oit off and make a butt conector
with fuel line. I also cant get the front Vent/Purge valve off. Other than that it only took 2 hours to remove the said items. Im just slow at it but the good stuff will be there tonight. There will be pics of the porting etc.
stay tuned Leon
Got the top of the FAST off. Check the Port mismatches some of the points are as much as a quarter inch and not just the floors. I dont know how I got the numbers I did but the TF's on the bench are PORTED and
they will match as I will take pics again. The last pic was to show that my glue job held up.
If you can...once you get the trick-flows bolted down use some shorter bolts and washers to snug down the lower intake to the heads. This might give a better representation of the mismatch to the heads since the rubber gaskets hold it up a little. I'm just curious if yours ends up with as much mis-match to the trick flows as mine did.
It was the crankshaft that inspired me Mike. Do I sense that your build is
done ? I guess Congrats for me is A ways off till the build is done. Thanks
we will meet up at Cecil. Leon

Definately, TF assures me the Ports are to SPEC. We did Spec the Fast but it was overdone for the Stock OEM heads. Its that much more to look foreward to.

Nice....My car will fire up tomorrow. The new crank and flywheel came this morning. We built the motor and have it in the car. Al we have left is to button it up tomorrow.....Check out my thread in a few minutes to see some new pics
Leon, take your time and match the ports, you will be happy with the results!!
Phil, I know and will test the portmatch on the TF's. As per measurement they must be right on , that is measuring the Fast PORTS & measuring the TF's. I have time while waiting on gaskets to do these tests. More pics comming . I hope I van get this done by the 19th because thats Dyno Day
and if I miss it I wont have another chance till aug . Dont want that hot weather for DYNO or TRACK. Thanks for the help leon
I got most of the stuff removed. However I cant get the power steering bracket off. There is one bolt below the power steering reservoir . I hate to think the worst but do I need to take the power steering fluid out and remove the hose to access the 15 mm bolt Im talking about. It also looks like I will have to take all the rockers off to access the Head Bolts. I followed the proceedure from ls1 how to but this is A LS2 with its own Quirks. Thanks Leon

I had to remove the reservoir completely to get that bracket off. Its no big deal; just think of it as an opportunity to flush the system...

You can get the heads off without touching the rockets with a short socket and an extension. Just raise them as the bolt comes off to make room

Well the Heads came off easier than removing that darn Power steering pump. I put pretty near a day on that. The good news is the bolt holes had not a drop of fluid. I have a Pic on that tonight. I am glad I went with ARP bolts. The Head of the bolt is smaller. I had a B of a time as a mater of fact two bolts ate still on the heads thay wont come off without removong the rocker. The yella terras are going to be nice to work with.
I got the sand paper out to clean the pistons.

I would not use sandpaper!!!
I would use 3m scotchbrite, that way no sand will go between piston and cyl wall!!
You need to think of grit going down your cyl!!

Just kidding about the sandpaper. Scotchbrite is defiantly the way to go
carb cleaner or mineral spirits should clean things up. I did get coolant in two cylinders and absorbed it up . The good stuff comes next.
I recall some bad comments from...was it Randy at DRM? about using scotch brite on the pistons as it breaks down to dust (we know they do that) and it gets down in the cylinders and the oil. Seems it was a Spin thread at someone's Garagemahal...
Phil, you do this stuff on more important engines than our Vette engines...what is your thoughts on how to clean the pistons based on your personal experience?
This is an interesting post from Randy - he uses a food grade scotch brite product apparently.
