my pcm will be mailed to you on monday. i have just installed lt headers,w/o cats (need rear 02 sensors deleted in tune),ported throttle body and ported ls2 intake manifold. what kind of hp/torque gains could i expect to see after your tune?

We generally see 10-15 hp, however the largest gains are really in what is no longer held back by tq managements, and the monetary changes in the tune.

Thanks in advance.

ok,i guess i was thinking more in the fact that all the mods i am doing should produce a bunch more hp over the stock parts i replaced? headers alone should produce 10-15 hp i thought, and pair that with a ported tb and ported intake and i would have thought (after a tune)id see 30 or so rwhp?? am i way off on this??

Most likely you are going to “feel” more since you will not have a before and after dyno pull to measure gain on paper. Some cars will pick up more from a tune than others due to factory variances…even with bolt-ons. Mine put down 355.4 Hp @ 5929 rpm and 360.4 lbft @ 4533 rpm on the factory tune on ECS’s Dynopack. After ARH 1 7/8 headers w/cats, 2 1/2'” midpipe, Vararam, 160 stat and Doug’s tuning the car put down 411.3 Hp @ 5643 rpm and 415.9 lbft @ 4719 rpm on entry level mods. A gain of 55.9 rwhp and 55.5 lbft which is big but given different stock tunes on the variances of LS engines and type of bolt-ons…one “shoe” tune does not fit all. Also, mine was done with Doug in the car on a dyno and on the street to be clear. If I recall though it is not a huge differance being on site vs. mail order tunes. I believe they can do data logging "Doug correct me if I'm wrong!!!!".
This is an example of my results but ECS has to be real about what you might gain as some cars gain big on a tune and others don’t. Some dyno strong from the beginning and don’t pick up much. Others as mine dyno weak and gain a lot. So ECS has an idea but if they quote a number and it doesn’t hit then the customer asks why. Some customers understand as to why it didn’t happen and others want quoted numbers. So…shoot low regarding variances and anything above it is all good.
Google is your friend and research tuners besides the forums since not everyone who owns a Corvette is on a forum. Someone who is shopping for a product shops smart.

Or was he saying the tune alone will net that much plus what the mod gains would be? I hope thats what he was saying cuz I am getting headers, catted x-pipe and was hoping to get about 30 hp just from that before the tune and then another 15-20 from the tune.

cant imagine that the headers, cat deletes, ported tb and intake wouldnt make a measurable differance prior to tuning it

Tuning would bring it all together to work as one...including power increase.

I always read how much better a mail order tune was vs a dyno or street tune.....made me decide to stay away from mail order.

However, I just bought a cam / full bolt-ons for my car and the shop doing my cam install recomended an email tune from a very reputable tuner on this forum. I told him I didnt want an email tune but he suggested I call the tuner to see if it would change my mind. Here is what I got from the tuner when I told him I didnt want an email tune....
"I have been doing this for a long time and can promise I will get you 97% dialed in via email tune. Then when I get in town I will dial the car in the rest of the way"
He stressed I will be damn close to perfect. My shop told me I cant beat it for the price. Basically the tuner will email the first tune and the shop will drive the car and send back the results so the tuner can do more tweaking. They go back and forth with that until they are both comfortable the car is where is should be. As soon as the weather breaks I will post the results and my opinions.

I've never used or trusted a mail-order tune. I prefer a tune that is customized for my particular vehicle with my particular modifications. Just me.

Assuming the car is 100% mechanically sound, much of your experience (in regards to mail order tuning) will be decided by who you pick to do it for you.

I was going off of a completely stock vehicle, sorry. Yes your additional mods would most certainly net higher numbers gained.

It seem a little intimidating at first but after talking with Chuck on the phone and having him guide me through some of the setup; (he's very patient) I think this is going to be the way to go. No shipping the PCM or TCM. Just downloaded the new trans and engine tune from my e-mail to the device and then to the car. There are no tuners in my area that I'm aware of; so this is the way to go if you cannot tune in person.
Because I had already had a tune from him I only had to buy the autocal; my new tune was free. Plus he sent me my orginal engine and trans tune if I ever needed to go back to stock. I'm sure he can explain this way better than I can so give him a call. He seem's to be always available or will call you back when he's not.

Thanks Very much!...

I think as time goes on, more and more people are going to realize the value of AutoCal...

It's an amazing device that's gonna be hard to beat!
