It was the exact same red box and everything. Normally I see stuff restickered as Duralast etc, but this was the same as what I ordered from Battery Mart.
True. But I just bought 2 piece C5 rotors that are supposed to be 3lbs lighter on each side and they weren't cheap...what's another $250 for 10 more lbs. That's .010 at the dragstrip, right?

6lbs of rotating weight is worth paying for over 10lbs of dead weight :P
I'd probably leave that as a last resort until you're on the verge of knocking down a record. Get within that .010 first and then spend the cash
Very true Shawn. I'm anxious to see how this next round of mods treats me. I should be dropping about 35lbs off the front end with 6-10 of it being rotating mass. The weight savings alone should be worth about .035 so it might be enough to grab that top spot.
We'll see. I just need another cool day this winter before it starts to heat up.
Justin if you're having fob problems try moving your iPhone to your other pocket. If I have mine too close to the fob I get those no fob found issues.
I hope you have better luck than Theofel with that little battery. He ended up giving up on his braille, it would start but sometimes throw crazy codes due we believe to low voltage. I also think I gave him a jumpstart once at the track (might not have been him). I personally never liked the slooooooow cranking his car did with it. His was in the trunk though. He ended up putting a regular battery back in. I wouldn't throw away your stock battery yet.

Interesting. I've heard nothing but good things with them, theo is the first I've heard of having trouble.
The battery in the car is the OEM from 2008 and based on reports from other members, I'm on borrowed time as to when it will finally give up the ghost.
I'll be installing it tonight or tomorrow and will see how I like it. Thanks for the heads up Joe.
Regarding the iphone thing--I just got the phone not too long ago and the 'no fobs detected' started long before I ever had it. Strange.
I think any phone can screw with the fobs, so next time you have the fob issue try moving the phone.
If I was in your shoes with that little battery, I'd invest in a jump box, or at a minimum tote some jumper cables. I carry cables in all cars. Oh and a word to the wise, don't buy thin cables. Walmart sells 0 or 1 gauge cables with good ends on them. Believe it or not, many times I've been able to jump start a car with my good cables when others have failed.
I hope I'm wrong about that little battery but man I watched Theofel's car give the rump rump rump slow start so many times in the lanes...barely starting...that I said not for me. Unfortunately size counts when it comes to batteries. I had my car once not start in the lanes and it was embarrassing. You are on your last leg on your battery by the way, I agree with that.
Thanks again Joe. I'll report back when/if anything comes up.
Shawn, you have the battery installed and your car has a blower now--do you notice a difference in the cranking speed with this battery vs the OEM? Any issues to report?

mine would start with just a tap of the button, when brand new, as it got older it did crank slow, the aluminum battery cable ends of the vette don't tighten on the brass battery posts and make a good electrical contact, i always had problems, even with a jump or jump box it wouldn't start. because of the bad connection, i took a pair of conversion lead posts for a side mount to top mount, cut the thread off then drilled it then bolted the lead post on instead of the slippery brass or aluminum ones, that really helped. be very careful about usage it goes dead fast sit there with the radio on while the car is off or leave a door open for a minute the light will draw the battery under enough volts to start, you will see the gauge drop from +14 to 11 and dropping fast from just having your brake lights on at a red light with heat ac wipers radio on its only seconds, it will go up once you get going, also start car in garage back up in driveway shut car off for whatever reason restart wont start, it drained the battery, so just starting and pulling up in the staging lanes a couple car lengths shutting down to keep cool, means dead battery, push it in the lanes remember opening the door getting in and out to push means dead battery

Nah I too have heard of/seen some of the exact same issues that Joe and Dennis are talking about above with the very small batteries (they're essentially a motorcycle or jetski battery by the way) on quite a few occasions actually, there is still some potential risk there.
I'll try it out and see. It's not a permanent mod and the car is my daily, so if it becomes too much of an inconvenience, I'll figure out another way to drop the 20lbs. Thanks for the heads-up guys and gals
I just bought and installed the Deka etx15L. Picked it up at JustBatteries in Mooresville NC. Cost me around 70 bucks. The cca's are only 220. Had me a lil worried but it seemed to do fine last night. Im only using this to shed some weight at the track. Also picked up a battery tender. I was really impressed how well it did.
I've had my Deka in my car for a few months now with 0 issues. I don't use a tender and have had the sitting for a week straight with no issues trying to fire it up.
I've taken it to the dragstrip multiple times as well and the frequent on/off behavior of the track hasn't phased it yet.
Next, I'll try running the fan with HPTuners to keep coolant temps down in the staging lanes and see how the little battery can handle it.
