Maybe you can help me then...

I'm installing a dry sump LS3 into my 2005 Z51 and heard that a dual catch can was appropriate. Can you give me specifics on what setup I would need?

Thanks,
Sean

I'm in the process of installing a dual valve RX catch can. I'm trying to find a good fitting to install into either the aluminum S/C inlet tube or maybe some other location. I'd like to ask Batcar or perhaps anyone who has installed this setup on their Supercharged setup... what type of connection did you use to attach the 11/32" hose to the non-boost side valve? Pictures? Sources? Part Numbers?
Thanks in advance!

Jimmy, you are installing a dry sump LS3 into your car, correct? Can I call you to work out some of the issues I'm running into with my LS2 to dry sump LS3 swap?

Thanks,
Sean

Sean, I'm installing a wetsump LS3. I don't have a clue about dry sump systems, so I probably wouldn't be much help relating to the oil system. Other than that, I'll help with anything else I can regarding the LS2 to LS3 swap. I'll pm my number.

Sean why are you fooling with the dry sump? It's a lot of extra money isn't it?

Here is a pic of the bulged wheel well to clear the lines.

Here is a look underneath the car, see the bulge on top and the headers behind the frame.

Got the motor with 1000 miles on it less that a crate wet sump LS3. I spend more time on the road course that the street at this point and figured this would be a good stepping stone to a true dry dumped race motor (wife didn't approve of the race motor price tag this time around).

Joe, you wouldn't happen to have a part number, would you? If not, I can call Gene Culley tomorrow.

Thank you for the photos, BTW.

You can't use it as its the spash guard that fits the grand sport or z06 fenders.

See below. You're going to have to cut your existing inner fender.

Crap... another project, fun! At least this one shouldn't be an all day affair. A slit on the downstream side, fold the plastic down a bit, and attempt to plug as much of the air space as possible. The ECU sits just above this now, so I need to keep the elements out as much as possible.

A pic of the area so far. Still need to install threaded inserts for the lower mounting location of the oil tank.

Joe I am looking at part number 6 in this diagram. Think it would attach to my 2005 C6? For the passenger side of course...

It's one piece on both sides on my car. See below.

Not to fret as that plastic cuts like butter. It'll be easy to mod yours.

I had a Moroso catch can put in & it is vented to the atmosphere, not back into the motor. I ran the line under the car a bit to keep the oil fumes out of the engine & passenger compartments. I'm F.I.

I think I can by the GS part and modify both of them to work together. I would really like the protection of the GS fender liner to keep as much of the elements out of the fender area as possible.

Sean hold the phone. I think I have one in my attic as I tried to install the z06 mudguards on my stock fenders. I'll look and if I have them send them to you.

Thanks a million Joe.

It looks like I may be able to use the inner half of the GS fender liner and mate up with the outer half of my stock fender liner and get a relatively good fit - better than a make-shift mod to my stock liner at least.

Sean,

I don't know if this helps your situation of the 3 Pin Engine Oil Level/Temperature Connector on you engine harness, vs the 2 Pin Connector on you tank. Keep in mind, this is from a 2006 Manual, but I can't imagine it would be too different.

As I sit here and type, I am thinking I should've looked up the LS7 2 Pin Connector. (it looks like it might be directly below the diagram that I took a picture of).

The 3 Pin Connector transmits signals for Oil Level (Brown), Oil Temp (Dark Green/White), and Low Reference (Tan). I don't know what low reference is but its shown on a bunch of over connectors too. Maybe someone else can add to that?

Is it possible the Connector on the tank is only for Engine Oil Level and that the temperature is not used or the signal comes from somewhere else? Or possibly the "Low Reference" is not needed on the 2 Pin sensor from the dry sump tank?

I can dig a little deeper in the manual when I'm back at the shop this week. I think once you figure out what wires from the engine harness go to what sensors, you could pretty easily modify your engine harness by building a custom harness using OEM connectors. I've had good luck w/ Caspers Electronics. They may not advertise the particular connector you need, but they've been very helpful for me in the past determining and finding the right connector and parts for me so I could build what I needed.

Thanks for the info Jimmy. Unfortunately, electrical is not my strong suit. I don't have the patience to sift through wiring diagrams to figure stuff like this out. In addition, I have procrastinated on this up to now - shame on me for that.

I would almost rather have the ability to track oil temp on the track then oil level. If you do get ambitious, I would truly appreciate your help with this. I was given the name of a couple contacts that I can speak with as well.

Time to get off my a$$ and get to the bottom of this I guess. Thanks for the kick in the pants!

Sean

Just sent an email to a buddy who works at GM. Hopefully e can tell me where the third wire that the LS2 harness is expecting would come from.
