Hey Justin,

Since you asked here's the video of my latest PB, but it's nothing to brag about. I'm looking forward to a cool day to try again since I found 25+ foot lbs of tq under the curve in my dyno tune after I made this run. Hopefully I'll be able to do a little better. My driving is rusty too, I need to relearn the launch sequence with the heads.

If we have a Spinmonster mod party I need to install a meth system, so count me in.

Sweet video Joe, thanks for sharing that one.

Meth system though, is there a performance advantage to installing meth on a N/A application?

Meth will make the car perform as if ambient air temps were 30F cooler than they actually are. It's also a higher octane if you choose to tune for it, maybe an additional 10-15 rwhp in an N/A car. I was thinking of doing the same for track days during the summer.

Edit: Spin has a great thread for meth on an N/A car, run a search. Might even be in the sticky section by now.

Theoretically yes in the fl heat it will help allow more timing with extra octane of the meth and the inlet air cooling effect helps too.

Check out the Methheadmonster thread.

Now that we have a Muscle Car Challenge at PBIR I'm getting excited about racing again. I'm also looking for a c6Z rear and tranny!

Hmm...interesting..we have one of the best in the business, Alky Control, right here local in Tampa..maybe its worth checking out.

Stupid question though--where do you get the methanol? Is it readily available?

Does it still have air conditioning, bumper supports and everything?
And of course he declined the tie breaker because he KNOWS you would've had him on the tree again in that third race.
It is a fast Honda though.

Thanks everyone. I'll check into the Meth thing. I wonder if installing it would still be considered 'cam-only'? The Alky control guys are right down the road from me and I'd love the idea of the car running as good in the Summer time as it does in the winter.

No a/c in that Honda. It's street legal, insured, etc, but the turbo leave little room for anything in the front of the engine bay. Speaking of, I wish I had some pictures of it--the car is immaculate and the engine bay is spotless.

I switched to e-85 ethanol and i gained 30rwhp just from that.
Same as you Cam only N/A...congrats, on achieving your goals.

Regards,
JM

I'd like to run E85. The only problem right now, is the lack of availability in my area. There are a couple pumps but many have reported inconsistent ethanol content so until it becomes more readily available, I'll be holding off on that.

I'd also need an upgraded fuel system to flow the 30% extra fuel as I'm at 85% IDC right now.

I installed a walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump, some 73# injectors and i bumped the timing. my IDC is 70% at WOT.

The e-85 octane rating around here is 105-110, i purchased a testing kit from summit racing that reads the octane level on e-85 fuel. The good thing for me is that e-85 is abundant in south Florida. but when i travel i just copy and paste my gas tune file and away i go, i use HP Tuners.

When i said Cam only I was referring to my 09 JetStream Blue Metallic ZO6, ported intake, ported heads, Pat-G cam, Halltech Killer Bee, Borla Stinger & X-Pipe.

I own three vettes, 69 Stingray C3, 09 ZO6, 12-ZR1.

JM

I know what you mean, up north it's very limited. i went to the tuning school in Odessa Fl and Bob the owner said the nearest e-85 station was in Orlando...lol

JM this is very interesting to me - I've thought about doing E85 for race days and swapping back to a gas tune for daily driving, I've got the capability with HP Tuners to do it as well.

But with only 11.9 compression in my setup, I was thinking I wouldn't get much of an advantage from E85 to bother (and I shudder to think about pulling the tank to install the necessary fuel pump).

Do you have a thread where you described your mods & gains in more detail? I don't want to take Justin's thread off topic....

Oh and since you are local, we have our new series, the Muscle Car Challenge starting at PBIR, first event 3/17. Would love to meet you in person and chat about your mods (and Vettes in general). The Challenge series is a great format to race and BS about cars.

Here are some details.
