I know there have been a couple dyno results posted that were just headers and not tuned. It's been a while but IIRC both were 15-20 rwhp gain over stock. Really it doesn't make a lot of sense to get headers and not get tuned after with the characteristics of the exhaust gas flow changing pretty dramatically from stock. That's why you will rarely see people just do headers and be done.

Not flaming you, just explaining.

I feel the same way. For a block to tip exhaust you may be looking at upward of 3k. I am going to try a different route for my C6 and get a used Z06 exhaust, 3" piping, dual mode exhaust. Even if I pick up 50% of the power compared to the aftermarket set up I am thinking I will get everything (manifold, cats, piping, exhaust) for around 600. I plan to dyno the car after I put it all together to see what kind of bang for the buck I can pull out. Saving over 2k on exhaust parts leaves alot of room for other things like a FAST intake, etc

Well if you buy into the speed shop's BS here where I live it would have cost you $3800.00 for a SW or LG setup, from stem to stern, 1 3/4, 3 inch, w/cats and (their LG or SW) matching cat back, parts, labor, tuning and taxes.

That's completely ridiculous, highway robbery on the labor because they wanted 8 hours to do the job @ $99.00 per hour - yeah right... N******* Speed is the name of the shop located in Wilmington, NC so you can draw you're own conclusions about them...

BTW - I have decided to forego the LT's and just do a cat back ... I think honestly, these unscrupulous shops think as soon as they see a Vette especially a newer one they figure "well got the money to buy - got the money to mod" and in most cases that's correct, but I don't think anyone wants to have their money stolen from them by paying inflated labor costs...!!!

I worked hard and long in my life to achieve the position I am at (it wasn't left to me, handed to me, given to me) and I'll be damned if some punk a** shop jockey thinks their going to fool the older guy and talk sh**, BS me with inflated dyno numbers, and stupid talk about "You're restrictive stock headers are holding the car back" blah, blah, blah, and "yeah the labor is intensive will take us 8 hours" -

I think a F'ing monkey with a ratchet set can get it done in 6 ... -

Vettro you need to chill out dude. I mean, have you only looked into one shop? There's tons of places out there!! I had to travel to get the deal I did but I got some used kooks headers, an install, and a tune for 1100. You should look in the ads on this site. There's deals to be had if you're fast enough to jump on them.

sure, I don't get up there very often anymore, especially with the Vette or Firehawk The downside of having two dogs that aren't allowed in either car.

Find a set of headers and come on down here, we'll get 'em installed

apology accepted - Seriously, there are no shops anywhere near me (with a dyno) everything is well over 100 miles away, Jason from SW was even trying to find someone for me - it's just futile, and I suppose that's the reason these thieves in Wilmington get away with what they do-?

You should see the owners house OMG ...

100 miles isn't bad. The shop I go to is 65 miles from my house and if it was further I would happily drive there to get quality work done.

Vettro,

Ed at the VetteDoctors has a special right now, long tubes, cats and mid pipe installed with a tune for $1,995.00.

Take a nice spring trip, get the headers, eat some local food, drink some local alcohol with the natives at Ed's shop, and be happy!!!
