You hit the nail on the head!! I have only 397 RWHP with a 2800 converter, it runs 11.6 @ 118 mph... & WITH the Drag Radials ON it still will blow them off every time on the street...!!!

I CAN NOT hook on the street with 400 HP but CAN run 11.6 on the track !! On the track my 60' is 1.62 with Nitto555 !

I'm using Nitto555 305/35x18"

I know you do quite a bit of drag racing and notice you're running the 555. Is there a reason you don't run the NT05R? I've got a new extra set of rear wheels with the NT05R coming so curiosity's getting me.

My rear wheels are off a 2004 (thin spoke polished aluminum) and look almost exactly like my front stock 5 spoke polished aluminum ones...

The rears are 18" x 9.5 wide, & the Nitto555 size 305/35x18" is a PERFECT FIT and they are the correct diameter so I don't get any DIC message if you have the wrong ratio in diameter between the front & rear...

Also I have to drive 100 miles each way to the closest drag strip (Englishtown) or 105 miles one way to Lebanon Valley.. so its a 200 mile drive + burn outs every time I race..

When I got the FTI 2800 converter I "REALLY WANTED" a 3600 BUT I knew the Nitto555 would not hold them & I'd have to go to a softer tire... which means 2 or 3 sets a year $$$$ so I compromised and got a 2800 converter so I could use the 555 tires ...& I leave them on all year now,,

In fact if I use caution I can drive in 20 deg weather .. I just drive it like a 70 yr old man (WHICH I AM) Honest....

So for my needs I wanted the best overall set up i.e. most millage, & I can still get low 1.6x 60' times if I heat them up good!!

So far this yr I doubt I'll get a full season because on the two race's I went to I went over 5 rounds in both + total time shots = 15 runs in only 2 races....

What is the EXACT overall diameter of your new tires...mine are 26.7" and that is almost exactly what the factory tires are...I don't want to start getting DIC codes because of rear tires being too big, or small...

And I get the most use out of the 555 and they are the most inexpensive tire ($315 each) at Discount Tire with FREE SHIPPING!!

Mine are 345/30 19. Now I can understand your circumstances.

I'm stock and can spin the OE tires with TC off.

Had 560 tire in my Camaro. If i tried any real launch on the street tires it was a sliding smoke show.

The 555R will get a LOT more time at the drag strip than the NT05R and will hold 1.60 60's no problem at all. It also is a harder compound and will MPH better than the NT05R.

There's no reason to go to a stickier tire than what's needed.

I was using a 275 555R when my car was running 11.2s and it still had a lot more left in it.
