If you actually did a measurement with a dial indicator you would see that the cup movement inside the lifter is not linear. So where does your math compensate for that? I have measured high mileage lifters, brand new lifters, 40-50k lifters. They are not exactly linear. Just like the difference in turning torque vs breakaway torque.
