Default Rear Wheel HP - Stock

Hey guys,

what would you expect to see at the rear wheels, stock coupe 2008 w/NPP, allegedly 436 HP?

15% drivetrain loss is an accepted amount, so 436 hp x .85 = 371 whp as an approximation.

So, 370ish, but it also depends on the dyno and testing conditions. And automatics have more drivetrain loss than manuals.

On a calibrated Dynojet, smoothing 5, SAE correction. Allow 5HP variation for production parts and dyno differences.

A6; 370 to 380
M6; 380 to 390

Just under 13% for manual, I saw 375 on my LS3 none NNP at 800 miles.

Your numbers could and will vary!

Per GM, the A6 is at 18% loss.

Are we talking Dyno armchair bragging right numbers, or the hobbling numbers of the TM that is limiting the amount of power that the car will put down to the ground at any give time instead.

Tuning a stock motor is not about the few HP's that you can pick up with the tune, but instead stopping the hobbling that the TM is doing, cleaning up shifting in a Auto trans, pedal to TB response sharpening, and even quick'g the delayed decay back down to idle so you can control the back end of the car via throttle feathering.

Thank you guys...

I just got a tune from a local shop and wanted some baseline.

The post tune pull came out at 386 HP @ 6,000 rpm, torque was 378 ft-lbs

The car was mainly tuned for street drivability and improved shifting (A6), It now shifts with more authority and at speeds that seem more appropriate for "spirited driving"

Thanks for the responses

+1 on the TM, it makes a big difference.

Dyno jet (2 different ones) 08' NPP 6 speed at 1000 miles, was right at 390 rwhp, the torque was pretty close as well.

I've been told by a couple of vendor/tuners on CF that a tune for a stock car will not net very much but in the range of 12-15. Your results seem to indicate that quite well even if your car started at 370 as a baseline. Be happy with the increase.

There is nothing from GM stating a percentage loss. The reason there isn't anything from GM stating a percentage loss is because it isn't a percentage loss.

There is no "accepted amount", see post above.

I'm not complaining...wasn't looking to gain HP

This tune was more about throttle response and Tranny tuning to quicken shifts, remove some of the lags and improve spirited drivability
