I’m still considering doing this myself. I came here tonight to read over the instructions again. I’m going to order my clutch next week. I’m considering the Minster LT1 clutch over the McLeod.
You can do it! I did this on jack stands in my garage over the course 8 weekends while doing college full time. Getting the torque tube aligned and back in was (not) fun and for me, the hardest part. I hand tightened the bolts, would jiggle the transmission and torque tube a little bit, hand tighten again, jiggle, repeat until it was fully seated against the bell housing.

good choice in clutches.
Make sure you get a clear work table or area and lay the stack out carefully in order. The clutch will come together in the box, with marks that need to align for the balancing of the unit.
good luck

i helped my neighbor get his engine back in which is the opposite. They had trouble getting the tube back in so I suggested they get some longer bolts and cut the head off and use as studs to align everything back up. Worked out great on two separate cars.
I have a Quickjack but I don’t think I want to do this on my back. My buddy has a lift that I have access to use anytime I want. On the other hand, I have a local transmission guy I’ve used for 20 years or better that says he will do it for $800 labor. I’m more hands on and don’t want to pay for something I know I can do. 🤦🏽♂️

good point. I’ve seen this when we were doing an engine swap on a guys Gen 3 coyote. It had a McLeod twin disk and the marks were still present. The guy I was helping had no idea they were marked for that reason since it was his first experience with a twin disk.
I have the Monster LT1-S twin disc in my GS. I like it a lot. Pedal pressure is about the same as stock. Engagement is closer to the top of the pedal travel and a smaller window from no engagement to full engagement but very managable. It is actually a stock GM C7 organic clutch with a custom flywheel for a C6. And there is no break-in period according to Monster. Install and let it rip.

Anyone have to drop the front cradle to get to the top bell housing bolt?
For the life of me I cannot get to it. I can get my hand up and touch it but no combination of swivels and what have you will allow me to get a socket on it. My finger barely fits between the firewall and the bolt.
I have the cradle loose and the motor mounts loose. About to pull the front wheels, upper control arms and drop the cradle some.

I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure my cradle was lowered as much as it would without taking the nuts completely off. I didn't touch the motor mounts. I do remember that top bellhousing bolt is a beyotch. I may have used a ball joint swivel socket to get it.
I quick trick for everyone saying they had trouble lining up the TT/trans to the the engine. Disconnect the TT from the trans. Install TT 1st. Super easy even w/out a jack. Then line of the transmission to the TT and it is a lot easier that way. I did it on jack stands and it literally popped in place in a few minutes. No stuggle at all.

I joke with people but out of everything in this whole job that friggin bolt was the hardest to remove. I used 13mm on a swivel with two extensions. You have to drop front cradle and loosen the engine mount a bit. I have Hinson mounts so it was harder for me cause my engine would not move back enough, Also had to use a pry bar to gently move the wire harness out of the way of that bolt..

I was able to tilt the entire drive train enough to be able to get to this bolt pretty easily. I did have to use a few long extensions to get to it.
Maybe getting the car higher in the air will allow you more tilt angle to get to the bolt.

Yes. I had to remove the upper shock mounts and was just about at the point of removing the upper control arms to drop the craddle some more. I never removed the front craddle entirely, just lowered it on its four connection points to the ends of the threads. So maybe about a two inch drop was what did it for me.
Pretty sure I loosened the motor mount bolts and pushed the front of the engine up with a jack or something to angle the back down a little. Doesn't take much. If you have sockets with built in swivels, that is ideal as they can fit in tighter spaces. I've never tried it with anything else.

So my buddy and I were talking. He helped me out in my Hinson mounts and I swear you are on to something. My motor does not move on the mounts at all! Wonder if those with an easier time have stock mounts?
going to take off front wheels and pull off upper control arms.
we had to do that to get my Hinson mounts in. He reminded me of that.

Wow even with headers on u didnt have to loosen them??
I tried to print this out so I can refer to it as I undertake this job but your written directions don't print legible. Do you happen to have a PDF or , Microsoft word copy of your written directions?
