Fast Idle Problem Continues

I replaced a coolant hose that was weeping ever so slightly (had to use dye and uv to find the leak). Drained the coolant, used the vacuum tool to remove all air, refilled with 50/50 mix (2 gallons). I had to remove the battery to get access to one of the hose clamps. Replaced battery and drove car. Engine temps now seem more like I remember. In addition, the idle speed has dropped from 1100 to between 800 and 900 with the car moving. It seems to be getting better over the past week. I don't understand why a coolant change would improve the hanging idle problem I was experiencing. Any thoughts?

I'm with you. Perhaps something wasn't quite plugged in or a wire is slightly frayed or something. It happens. This would make sense since the problem started after the throttle body went bad.
