Jay, It's been almost 2 years since you installed your DIY vacuum pump for you bi mode exhaust. How is the pump doing these days? Any issues other than the first edition GM solenoid? I am planning to build one with your design in parts for my C6.

Curios to hear back too. I have purchased all of the parts, and have the mufflers ready to install. Just have not had the time to do so yet. Any new or updated info would be appreciated before I dig in.

I went ahead and installed the DIY vacuum pump and associated parts on my 05 C6 vert after adding a dual mode Z06 cat back. I used all of the parts Jay had listed including the MAC 3 port valve. The install went great for the exception of the 7/64" diameter vacuum hose that Jay used. The MAC valve came with 1/4" brass fittings which made it impossible to get the 7/64" hose onto. So what I did was buy 6" of 1/4" hose (3" inches for each port and then placed a plastic reducer (1/4 to 7/64) which I purchased in a pack of vacuum reducers from Auto Zone for $2.99. Worked like a charm. Jay had said the pump was noisy, but I found the contrary. I mounted the pump and valve on the inside panel of the rear trunk area placing them behind the carpet. I cannot hear the pump run at all from the driver's seat. I also placed a 1/2" foam rubber around the pump to help insulate the noise. I purchased all of the parts on Ebay for approximately $100.00. I used an Eaton parts pump instead of the Dorman since the pumps appear identical and the Eaton was only $43 shipped. Hope this helps, shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Thanks to the op, I have the parts ordered and will try to install it similar to a Mild2Wild setup but opposite on the remote so lets call it Wild2Mild. The way I have planed with a wireless remote it will be off = Wild & on = Mild. Update to come

Great write-up, thank you @Jay462! I'm ordering the parts now for my 2013 GS. This looks like a fun project while I plan my exhaust upgrade. Currently thinking the BB Fusions. I'll provide an update once I get the parts and start assembly.

I know this is an older thread now, but there have been a few “recent” hits on it and I’m excited about my setup and want to share. I’m preparing to install z06 bi mode mufflers and wanted something kind of stealthy yet OEMish like install so I opted to hide my setup behind the flip down door in the console. I lost the cigarette lighter for the button and covered up the ashtray which looked out of place to me (as I’m a non smoker) I designed and 3D printed a stand-off to push the button out so it’s more easily reached and designed and printed a cover for the hole where the ashtray sits. This can be removed the same way as the ashtray which actually increases the storage space in this little cubby. Let me know what you think please. I know this is subjective and may not be for everyone. So criticism is fine as well :-)

So it’s currently mid 30s in Ohio where I live. The pump runs longer than anticipated at startup, long enough in fact that the pump is still running after the engine is running. Which essentially means I can’t start the car in quiet mode. I don’t live in a neighborhood so I’m not to concerned about neighbors being disturbed or anything but I just prefer to have quiet mode default and would like to improve performance.
Does anyone one know if the valves can be adjusted so that vacuum opens them instead of closing them?
